This is my Fret-King Esprit 1, probably my best ever Ebay purchase. They're £1349 new, I paid £350. It's one of the UK-made Fret-Kings, it's made of korina and has a Gotoh P90.

There was a nasty ding to the edge of the upper horn that I touched up with nail polish and it looks fine to me now.

I added the Bigsby-style wobbler and replaced the bridge and tuners. The original tuners had large Gibson-style snot green buttons that were just too big to be so close together so they were replaced with tuners with smaller buttons, more in keeping with the "Gibson Junior" vibe. The original bridge was a compensated wrap-around style that was designed to sit at a right angle to the strings and didn't work with the angled bridge posts, so I found one with more scope for adjustment.

I also changed the pickup cover from cream to black and made a black/white black pickguard and added the devil girl sticker...

I probably paid another £60 or so for the modifications and now have a guitar that's been called ugly by more people than any other guitar I've owned.

My '65 Teisco TRG-2L: enough chrome for a '58 Buick, speaker with fidelity that rivals those at the Jack In The Box Drive-Thru, blobby Strat-ish styling and the hugest headstock known to Man!

Since the burl-topped guitar started out the thread, I guess I'll add this:

A Douglas Gravity from Rondo. I actually like the finish, but that pickguard will have to go someday.

    My wife hates it.

I still have my first "real" guitar, and it's somewhat amazingly still playable (and sounds great) after years of teenage and (later on) drunken abuse.

Looks like a Westone Thunder 1A. Those are really cool workhorses, virtually indestructible and a good example on why Matsumoku made guitars are so highly regarded.
Don't let the body fool you, these came with a bolt on neck.
The Thunder 1A came with a built in two band active IQ (Hence the "A" for active) and DiMarzio licensed Pickups. But yours obviously doesn't have the IQ anymore.

Westone guitars are part of my Childhood, they were everywhere. And when I play one now I can smile to something from the eighties that has aged really well.

    My Fender Acoustic.
Can't remember the Model, but it ain't no prize.

    A pair of 66' Mossrites.
The 12-string is made from a Maple Burl. Oil and Wax finish.

The 6-string is made from a chunk of laminated Alder I bought at a Lumber yard.
The finish is genuine Formica. Talk about easy clean-up!

    Hondo something or other.

Defretted and filled in the slots when one of the frets just fell out for some reason.
Humbucker of unknown origin wired directly to the jack.
    Plastered with stickers
    Swimming pool "route"
Fretless guitar isn't nearly as usable as a fretless bass, I might re-fret it someday.
