Some people say my two Westones are ugly
Then I got this Hondo the other day
Then I bought this Aria Nextar, as it had a nice set of pickups in it.
Took those out and played it like this for a bit
Then I realised that it could make a reso conversion, which is hard to do with standard strats.
Looks like this now
This would have to be my most "Ugly" guitar but....
it's also my most loved and most used. It's an '83 MIA Top Loader Fender Tele with a bunch of modifications. It has a Parsons/White B-bender, a Hipshot D-tuner on the low E string and Keith/Scruggs pre-set banjo tuners on the 1st and 5th strings. It has GFS Humbucker in the neck slot which is tapped by the mini toggle switch between the volume and tone controls on the reversed control plate. The volume knob is also a "pull pot" activating a phase switch. The middle pickup is a "neck" pickup from a set of Fender "Vintage NoCaster" pickups and the bridge pickup came with that one. The pickguard(s) were made with my trusty scroll saw from pickguard material I purchased from Stewart/McDonald. The action is very low as that's the way I like it and it's strung up with Ernie Ball "Hybrid" strings 9-46,,,, I have approximately 34 or 35 "gig worthy" guitars in my collection but this Tele is my favorite and one that couldn't be bought for any price. It's ugly but it's my baby.........JH in Va.
AHHHH...I see you have the Hayes Tuners on that tele...NICE!
Rockinger Tremolo..........this came as original before Floyd Rose
Someone called my Alamo Fiesta ugly once.
The Squier vista series VENUS by Fender
Gorgeous white neck binding on a very flat rosewood fingerboard!
String thru body goodness over a classy sunburst.
Interesting take on the head stock, body and pickguard. Did I mention JUMBO frets?
Sadly, it's no match for my Tele and I only play the Venus every few months.
Except one or two, there's no ugly guitars here!
It's all in the eye of the beholder... my fav... not ugly to me... I cobbled this honey together out of spare parts from my closet... a keeper.
Thankfully, my ugly guitars haven't made it into reality yet....but I can dream ugly quite well, thank you.
I guess my "Son of Fido" applies here, I made it from a walnut table, a neck from a Japanese Strat copy, a Kahler whammy (i don't use it much but it's killer in keeping the thing in tune), a GFS Humbucker, a single coil from a Squier Bullet in the middle and a Japanese fender Single coil at the neck, I also gave it Steinberger gearless tuners later.
There's little that that guitar can't do.
My two Strat mutts aren't the prettiest guitars eithers.
I'm actually thinking of selling my green one, since it plays like a pig and it doesn't really have that much MOJO either.
That's real "Jetson" stuff there... I likes it
I like it. A lot.
This guitar is beyond groovin' cool. Love it!
Yeah, it looks like you fought off a bear with it!
O man... I love two at that top left..
Not mine, but my friend and very talented musician Lauris Vidal built this ugly SOB out of reclaimed barn pine, a Teisco pickup, some tele-ish solid rosewood neck (with a Gibson-like neck angle) and a mandolin pickguard. It's finished with simple wipe-on poly.
It ain't much to look at but my GOD you should hear the tone. Think Dan Auerbach from hell.
Dear OP (Telegazer):
"Those green and pink teles are GORGEOUS. That silver thing is not (sorry)."
+1. And I'm not sorry. That guitar with wings gives me the creeeeeps every time I look at it.
