The guitars that are so good playing that they're hard to ignore, hate, or simply get rid of.

Mine: On a casual search I found Netherlands forumite TheSwingGuy had posted here about adding a Bigsby B-5 to his Swing T-Thru. As unpopular as they were when they were produced, the Korean 2nd hand market has a good amount of them floating around. I think it's reasonable to assume that it was the funky bubinga and burl tops (leser so the rosewood), the matte finish, and the black hardware that turned everyone off.

I was lucky enough to buy the hideous burl top (amicably referred to as "elephant placenta finish") off of a starving student for about $180, with a few scratches and a crunch on the back...And I love it! A nice weight of just over 6lbs, hot rail humbuckers with really sweet single coil sounds when split, through-neck as straight as an arrow, and a very nice resonance and sustain that has been putting my other guitars to shame:

The ugly duckling well-embraced by his more aesthetically charming peers.

I like all of those, and don't think they are the least bit ugly.

Yeah, I don't like the Swing-T much, but I don't think it reaches "ugly".

I'm not a shredder, or a pointy guitars, but I've always had a soft spot for Kramers. What tremolo do you have on that thing?

My Holy Explorer. The tuners are worth the same as the rest of the guitar. Plays like a dream.

I went to an open day at a local music shop years ago where people brought in some collectables and let the punters have a play.. not a lot of people there...

this was the most beat up ugliest Strat I'd ever seen... begging to be played.. I tried a few Gretchs and Gibbos other Fenders...mhea..

I just sat on this guitar in the circle jam that was going on playing now and then when I knew the runs.. watching the other players chords..

a genuine 69 ? hardtail...I was told..(with some mods I guess?). and the guy scored it for $100 at a garage sale years before, locally,, ..truly,he was there.. unreal... he was playing an old SG ..trying to be Angus... sigh...

the sides of the neck were so worn both E's slipped off easily, high up..... and it looked like it it had been burnt? or left on the roof for years, finish wise... hardly any recognisable paint color left, back or front..more like arm grease and dirt&char... neck straight and true with some frets left.. played like butter except for the E's slipping off... the switch was nearly rusted off..
    natural relic.

and sounded Soooo good through the old Vase amp ...

a good day.. with an "ugly" guitar...

My rescue-Teisco. It now plays like new and the electronics are quiet and functional. This thing was ate up when I bought it, still looks ate up...never bothered to refinish, probably won't either.

This is a late 60s Apollo that I rescued from a dumpster and converted it into a "Goth Axe"...

    Ugly, huh...?

I think very few of these qualify as ugly. Most, including the op's guitar, are good looking!

I just ressurected this one, and there's another old Silvertone on the way-is this ugly enough?

It is not my favorite. It is probably not in the top 10. I just am never able to bring myself to tear it down. So I guess I do got some love for it.

It was an early grain-popping finish experiment, on an ebay body that turned out to be more of a 3/4 dinky instead of a strat body, and a Warmoth Tele neck that happen to fit the route. If it had better pups, instead of some no name, that I don't even remember where they came from, I'd play it more often. Maybe ... I have been losing my Floyd love, the last few years.
