    Let's play Guitar Poker!

    Come on down!

Simple game of poker, you show your hand and the next poster tries to beat it. Now by beat it I mean that your hand (the guitar or guitars you lay down) in some way (tone, looks, bang-for-buck...) beats the hand laid down before it. That's Guitar Poker. I show my hand, then you show a hand that beats it.

However, there are a few different rules to Guitar Poker. Example, three of a kind does not necessarily beat a pair. For instance if you show that you have three Squire Strats, that does not beat a pair of '58 Les Pauls.

Let's begin the game. See if you can beat my hand. I'll open with this, a Strummer Telecaster.

I’ll see your strummer tele and raise you my homemade les Paul copy (still waiting on the D rings) as it’s my most recent guitar build.

Please note: This guitar goes to 11.

I'll see all your Teles and Strats and homemade guitars and raise you a pair of Casinos:

That hand is going to be tough to beat. You really think you can beat these two:

Come on, that's not beating two Casinos.
Throw your money in the pot and wait for the next hand.

The way we can determine which hand is better is this:

Ask yourself would you trade one hand for the other?
If the answer is "yes," then that hand is the lesser of the two.
If the answer is "no," then clearly you are holding the better hand.

No one is going to trade two Casinos for a French guitar that comes with a bottle of Cognac. The two Casinos is therefore the better hand.

Seriously, right now if I said let's trade, you would say "yes" and I would say "no" indicating that I hold the better hand.

Ok, so by my reckoning the 66 blonde Strat is winning by some margin. Let me play my trump card. DSC_0804.JPG

Is that a fake f-hole with tortoise shell inlaid into it? Interesting. How you do that?

Gentlemen, gentlemen, why are you showing your best cards so early in the game? There are players out there that are holding some Aces...we know we could beat you and take your guitars from you.

Oh, by the way, by agreeing to participate in Guitar Poker you do realize when you lose, you forfeit your guitars to the winner. No skin in the game, there is no fun. So, when I start throwing down trump cards, you must immediately run out to UPS and send me your guitars. Losers have to pay for shipping too, you know. This is a high-stakes game, folks, You don't have the guts or the guitars, please just sit by and watch. This game is for high rollers only.

I am holding onto a pretty nice hand...I want you players to put all you've got into the ante and then I will swoop down and take all your guitars. Hmmm, I already have picked out a nice place in my music room for that '61 Blonde Stratocaster.
