I'm still paying the price for a lack of scholastic and financial discipline in my 20's.
So yeah, pretty much learned those things the hard way.

Keep your fingers away from the saw blade. Because it is always hungry.

My inner voice is definitely not my ally. It's very highly critical.

    Learning guitar is pretty hard.

Playing decent music together with other musicians is much harder.

Learning to sing confidently is the hardest.

Projects fail for at least one of two reasons: money and politics.

    I'm a crazy magnet.

Some guy told me that many, many years ago, and I didn't believe him.

"John, you know you're kind of a crazy magnet."

    "What does that mean, exactly?"

    "You attract insane girls."

"You mean like funny, eccentric, odd, eclectic women? Girls with unconventional tastes in fashion and music?"

"No, I mean crazy, as in they want to woo you, charm you, seduce your very soul, marry you, have children by you, and then eat you alive, boil your bunny, paint your name in blood on the side of the police station, divorce you, and take your house, all your money, and your very will to live."

"Well. I think that's kind of extreme."

    "It's your funeral, sport."

In the end, that guy was right.
And yes, I had to learn that lesson the hard way.

    :(
