There is one major problem, I have no idea how you wire these things! I have looked all over the web and found this but I cant really wrap my head around it

I also have a second assembly and I was wondering if you could wire both into the same cabinet? Thats more of a secondary question, I would at the very least like to get one working

My apologies - I posted some hints this afternoon, but somehow my edits got messed up, and you got only my smart-alecky 950 suggestion.

I had one of those foam-rotor Leslies in the garage for the longest time and never got around to building an enclosure. I finally sold it when we were preparing to move.

Here's a simplified diagram of the speed-control wiring. All you really need is an AC cord and an SPDT switch (toggle or push-on/push-off stomp switch) and two 0.1 uF 600V capacitors. I think it will run without the capacitors, but I'm not sure. They might just be there for noise suppression. On the other hand, they might be starting capacitors for the motors. Single-phase motors are strange beasts, and I never really "got" the theory. To be safe, put them in. Come to think of it, I have some in my parts drawer. I bought them for my "project", then sold the rotor.

The speaker wiring in the Vibratone manual looks complicated because they included a crossover - they didn't want heavy bass notes (like organ pedals) getting to the little 10" speaker. If the speaker you're using is suited to guitar, AND the amp your driving it with appropriate, you can get by without the crossover and just wire the speaker to the output of your guitar amp.

I see your rotor has an 8" speaker, so you'd better not drive it with anything bigger than a Champ. The Vibratone had a 10" which was a bit heavier duty. Leslie's Model 16 was identical to the Vibratone with a 10" speaker. Leslie also sold a Model 18, with had a 12" JBL - THAT would be the unit to have.

If your rotor is big enough, you might consider enlarging the speaker cutout and bolting in a bigger speaker, I think all the foam rotors were the same size (but I'm not sure about that).

If you don't already, you need to know about Captain Foldback's Leslie Page: http://captain-foldback.com/Leslie.htm

Well, now we know why the Univibe caught on. Dig that 950 though. From doppler to "dopeler" in nothing flat.

I have had one of the 950's.....it is about the size a large upright freezer...and just about as heavy. Cool, though....amazed everyone who saw it....especially at night. There are four blacklight tubes in it, and things get way 'spacey' in the dark. There is a 150watt SS amp for each of the four 12" speakers. INterchangable dayglo patterns...or create your own for a more personal trip!!!!
