Les Pauls with P90s are a glorious thing - what have you got?

P90s are my go-to. I have three right now - a 2012 Les Paul "Special Junior" with the much-derided (but excellent) torrified maple fretboard, a Godin LGSP90 (I've owned about three of these over the year) and the newest member, a Reverend Sensei Jr. All great guitars, but the LP is the one that seems to get the most play.

I bought a used Dillion "Less Paw" goldtop from Ebay. Nice guitar for around $300.

a 50's Tribute LP Studio with P-90's. Just a straight-ahead rock and roll guitar. Many of my friends want this guitar, but nope, even though I play the telecaster more, this just feels great. Replaced the grover tuners that it came with because they felt sort of loose and slack and no wayno. I understand I can probably fix that, but I had an old set of Gibson deluxe keystone style tuners, purchased second hand right here on TDPRI and they fit perfect and IMO, that's what an LP should have.

    Here’s my R6.
Uh, you might notice it’s P90s are MIA.
    I don’t like P90s (ducking).
To you P90 fans, I know I’m vastly in the minority.
    I never liked P90s.
Luckily, I do like almost everything else that fits in their route.
So, presently my guitar has Duncan Alnico V and Antiquity Firebird pickups.
    Thanks for listening.

Had they got the neck angle right we'll never know how "popular/collectable/playable" those could have been. They never had a chance really.I love those trapeze tailpieces.

A kit from that ebay seller & my submission to this thread I guess.

That staple is surely considered a P90, yes?

The Alnico V “staple” is quite a different beast from a P90, though it has the same width dimensions.
I wish I was better at posting links, but an exploded diagram of it would help me explain.
The Al-V is deeper, and it’s beveled magnets have weird, spring loaded height adjustment mechanisms.
They are higher output than P90s, but sound clearer and fuller, IMO.
My distaste for P90s stems from their “nasty, bratty” distortion characteristics when cranked.
Admittedly, legions of players love them for that very reason.
Anyways, the Alnico V was Gibson’s best (most expensive) pickup before the arrival of the humbucker.
I believe Seth Lover designed both.
I’m just about to take the newly re-pickuped gold top on it’s maiden gig voyage.
    Wish me luck!

I love me some 90s action
Both Epiphones...56 Les Paul standard pro and 57 Jr reissue... The latter is quickly becoming my favourite guitar.
My partscaster also has a pair of 90s[IMG]

How about a Tele with P90's, or close to them: Fralin SP43's.

An interesting P90's Gibson... LP Melody Maker 2014 (w/ maple neck and maple carved top), P90SR and ST. Lots of growl and snarl
I've added the deluxe pickguard, amber switch tip, black/silver top hats, knobs pointers.

A lot of loose interpretations of what a 'Les Paul' is in this thread.
