This is my sweet sweet Epi Les Paul Studio. I left those classic Alnico 5 pickups in there simply because they met my every expectation of what I like about Les Paul tone. It originally had the black trim but I never liked it, so I installed all tan/beige trim. I've previously had a Gibson Les Paul Custom Black Beauty and a Gibson Les Paul Deluxe but this Epi beats them both. Platefire

Can't beat a bit of P90 tone as an alternative to the humbucker models. Gives us an excuse to own more than one (just got a P90 50s Tribute only last week myself to go with my Epiphone LP which has humbuckers).

I had the guys at Vintage Relic build me a LP style guitar 2 years ago.

They used all old growth Brazilian Rosewood, Honduran Mahogany and Maple. Bartlett Holly Veneer

Weighs in at 8.2lbs Non Weight Relieved.

They used Royalite Binding, Historic Makeovers R/T Ring, Trussrod Cover, Switch Tip, V/T Knobs, , Mojoaxe Backplates + Guard, Gotoh SD510 Locking Gears, Complete Pigtail Bridge, Tom Holmes H450 x H455 pickups. Throbak M69 Rings.

I also had them make it with a Fat .92-1.02 neck, with Vintage 6230 frets. Earvana nut. Set Up/Plek at Glaser Instruments.

I really like the '56 Gold Top model Epi has produced. I picked up a used one someone must have had stored under their bed. There wasn't a mark on it. These are exceptional guitars and they would have to be because I swore to God I would never own another LP as long as I lived.

Just finishing up a Les Paul scratch build; Mahogany/Maple body-Queensland Maple/Ironwood neck with Walnut headplate; Tonerider pickups. It was the first 'Les Paul' I ever had in my hands, so the build was a challenge!

Not mine, but just finished putting it together for a customer. It's either a '71 or '72, and is one heavy beast! I had to install brand new wiring plus a series switch, the graphtech bridge, tonepros tailpiece. The SD pickups were already in there. Dig the pickguard though!

Hey Guys....Not sure if it's been discussed yet within this thread, but thought I'd ask your thoughts on these new ES versions of the Les Paul? Anyone here have one, and what are your thoughts???

I've never owned a Les Paul before as I've primarily been a tele and strat player. I owned an ES 335 a few years back but I sold it in a moment of weakness. I've been craving that Gibson HB tone lately and came across this used 2014 ES Les Paul going for a fair price

    Any opinions are appreciated

I picked this 2014 Goldtop up a few months ago (used) and so far I am loving it. I haven't played it live yet but at a decent home volume, it has been sounding terrific. Mine weighs under 7 lbs.

I'm like you, primarily a Tele (and sometimes Strat) player and had also been craving the the Gibson HB tone.

The one you are considering looks great and if it plays and sounds as good, and you are getting a decent price, I would go for it.

Keep us posted and good luck...

    I'm back in!
    I just got a 2012 R7 VOS gold top.
    Big ol' neck!
I have already started messing with it.
I changed the white plastic for black, and am putting a non-invasive Bowen Handle tremolo
    on it, tomorrow!
I've already used it on a couple of gigs.

Wow, that looks beautiful....thanks for the input

Do you know if the 2014 models also have the MHS buckers?

Hey csapo, that's a sweet gold top. How would you characterize these guitars? From the pricing, they seem to be on par with LP Standards, more or less. So, they don't have the Historic treatment? (as I type, I wonder what historic model they'd use, since these didn't exist. I'm slow, but I usually get there in the end :D).

Is it more of a hollowed out LP, or a different body style on a 335? Which does it feel more like?

Here is a nice Youtube clip of Mike Voltz from Gibson Memphis talking about the construction and design of this new model. As you will see, it's a true "Semi" type of build, and not just weight relieved like some
