i was a teenager in the '70s, so that means i've heard a lot of Led Zeppelin. in many ways, i feel like i am burned out on them forever. BUT, ever now and then, i will fire up one of their joints. and i have to be honest, i am almost always impressed. tonight, this one popped up on utube.

Ten Years Gone (1990 Remaster) - YouTube

i can't remember hearing this song since 1976, when i used to go visit my guitar genius friend, Ben. that sucker could play Anything, including this song. i was struggling to learn "walk don't run". i had this album and brought it over so Ben could learn it. i should have just gave it to him because i didn't like it much. i fell out of love with Zep starting with this record, i don't know why.

but, i must admit, this song rocks. it is blues fused to rock perfectly.

I do it poorly, but I ( try to) play this at home ( on acoustic or electric) for kicks, just as I love the beautiful chord changes. Try to do smoothly but it takes thought and work!

    * I don't even know if it's in Standard tuning, but I figured it out that way, in A

Ten Years Gone was honestly the first song I learned by ear. I love it, and play it literally every time I pick up a guitar. Learned it in my college house with 5 roommates, at the ripe old age of 23.
Very proud of myself for that accomplishment, and that's no joke.

One of my favorites, absolutely. Really cool chords and double stops in there, and the solo section is great. Anyone know what he did in the solo? Double tracked?

I used to play this one with my band on electric mandolin. Great solo!

Everybody knows that Jimmy stole it from Muddy Bloody T-Bone Crusty Blind Lemon Peel. Sorry but I wanted to get that in before the Page haters crashed the party.
OP Thanks for posting this. Now I have something new to learn tonight! It took me a while to warm up to this album but overall it's my favorite Zep record.

@SRHmusic -Most likely the solo is double (or more) tracked, Page being known to spend way too much time in the editing of the songs (maybe, but the results speak for themselves, IMO). Probably a phase shifter in there and/or octave and maybe a chorus, but I'm only guessing as I don't have these effects.

This is my favorite LZ album. Even if it does have Kashmir on it

Just stumbled on to this live one with the Black Crowes. Must've been "take your Dad to school" day.

Thanks for this. Great album, Jimmy Page and The Black Crowes! They did a lot of tunes from Physical Graffiti.

I’m still trying to learn it from this. Great tutorial hampered by my own cack-handedness...
