Why would lighting systems, fog machines and lasers at a concert make people uncomfortable?
I don't know? Maybe that's why I was asking? Try reading the other thread where members claimed implied it made them uncomfortable in a worship setting. I'm not going to use quotes from another thread when it's easy to find.

If I had to guess, it could be a number of issues:
Sensitivity to lighting
Fear of darkness
Poor eyesight
Color-blindness

Other physical/mental issues. Those are just a few things. I asked him because the responses on the other thread were vague, I am curious to know exactly what it was that bothered members here. We have older people at my church in the 70's who are healthy and enjoy the lasers, fog, and lighting.

Have either one of you heard Dolly's new song?

I think the ole girl is making a statement...seems clear to me.

Guess when you're as big as Dolly and as old (77) you just don't care too much what some folks think.

Wow, that brought tears to my eyes.

God bless Dolly!

Interesting indeed.
I heard there more songs like this but not to be released until after she has passed on.

"Time to break the spell."

I agree.

A friend of ours gave us tickets to see Lauren Daigle celebrate her new album release.

It was at The Novo in Los Angeles, in the LA Live campus of venues.

Being at a record release is always fun, but this one club had a real cool vibe to it. The staff was extremely courteous, and paid great attention to handicapped needs and cleanliness.

As far as the performance was concerned, it was totally obvious this was a band that someone has set aside as a prime act.

There were 13 musicians on that stage and every song was beautifully executed!

The songwriting talent mentioned was like a who's who of songwriters.
Jon Baptiste co wrote a few song on this as well. If you are unfamiliar with Jon, he is the musical director for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

The songs are very funky Louisiana laid back grooves. Like a band that just got finished eating at the church picnic! Mighty tasty grooves.

But I have to tell ya, that audio mix was outstanding!
It was the greatest display of a hybrid stage done right that I have ever seen!

There was full bore drum set and a percussionist and neither of them were filtered behind a plexi barrier.

The mains sounded like you were listening to an audiophile's sound system.
Beautifully mixed and masterfully maintained throughout the show.

That venue only holds about 2,000 people so it was quite the intimate concert. Thanks.
Not really a fan of her better- known stuff, but sounds like it was a great show. Got any of that "funky Louisiana laid back groove"? Me love some of dat!

Back on track, if even for a little while... I hope we can all mend broken bridges and fragile souls.

Here's the concert from The Novo in Los Angeles that my wife and I attended. Enjoy.

She has a great sounding voice !!

Yes, it kinda leads us back to the other thread on this forum.
Are Christian artists allowed to venture into a non church environment?

How are we supposed to infiltrate this world system if we run with the premise of always having to hunker down in the trenches?

I don't think it's fair to comment on a songwriter's talent to use a variety of words to express themselves.

People finding fault in another's lifestyle choice is so much of what the world does.

I love the work of Jimi Hendrix and his artistry is world renowned, even though I don't drink or do drugs or chase the wimans!

We should give Lauren her space. Some commented on how heretical Hillsong was but when someone leaves it and is searching we still critique their journey? Ugh.
The religious can stick it where the sun don't shine on this. When I was playing white metal back in the 80's and 90's got called everything but a child of God by the religious over playing biker rallies ect. There is a huge difference in playing openly ungodly stuff and saying you are a Christian artist and playing material that has a message to the world. Reject the former strongly support the latter. I remember the first time I saw Stryper here in Birmingham. Few had heard of them secular Rock station heavily promoted the show and most who came had no idea they were a Christian band. Had a large Church picket the concert screaming how folks going were going to hell ect. The band preached from the stage to a mostly secular stage and had an altar call. Floored me. Boy do I have some stories on all of this.
When i was at Cathedral playing in that team we would plan a week in Florida to go down to the Thunder Beach HOG biker rally. We street ministered worked with Christian Biker groups then set up our porta State and rocked on the Strip. Clip from my recording on the Panama City Strip https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=5343195
Some old White Metal friends in Brazil. PS 10's of thousands at this fest.

If there was ever a musician actually 'touched by the Lord' - it was Jimi Hendrix.
And my guess is that the wimans chased him ;).

Just saw her in Philly. Great show. Very New Orleans influenced. Good horn section, good backup singers and good overall band. Great to hear a Christian performer with that kind of depth in her music.
