...does not feature a dude with a skull mask and black nail polish sporting a 17-20 compound radius Ibanez 8-string. Which was nice.

Yeah, mine came a couple days ago. The rest of the stories though are still a dude with a skull mask and black nail polish sporting a 17-20 compound radius Ibanez 8-string. Nice interview though. And is it just me or does it seem like they go out of their way to find the most expensive gear possible to review?

Same with all magazines, guitars, guns, cars, cigars. Its whichever companies buy a good sized amount of ad space this month gets reviews. If you get a review/article why not make it be your top of the line flagship ($$$$) products. As always just follow the money. Lets see, Brad Paisley's label is releasing a couple new CDs this month. So he magicly appears on several tv shows and magazine covers. follow the money

Who is Brad Paisley. Never heard of him other than I know there is a Love Pedal made after him, I believe?

Whew, I got nervous. They have Children of Bodom at least listed on the cover.

Not a country fan, but picked this issue up for a breath of fresh air.
That dude loves guitar, he's OK in my book.

I bought it. Great read this month! Good article on Stephen Stills as well. I pre-ordered Paisley's album.

Glad to see a country guy on the cover! Most guitar mags ignore country pickers. At most they do an article on a country musician once a year, but if any of the guitar mags would feature a country tab in every issue I would subscribe, until then all of the guit mags are useless to me!

    Yeah that's cool.

However, the last two issues I have sitting here on the desk have SRV on one and Orianthi on the other. ;)

I subscribe to Vintage Guitar and Premier Guitar. I'm 41 years old, I'm sure Synyster Gates is great and all but I don't care too much for his stuff and I really can't get passed his schtick. I think it's great that GW is exploring different styles (and different audiences), but I'll stick with Vintage Guitar and Premier Guitar.

They tried to have a country guitar magazine a few years ago and it bombed, which was too bad.

I stopped buying GW years ago, because I'm not interested in shredders or death metal, and SRV and Jimi Hendrix are severely limited in their ability to make new music, so I got tired of reading the same old interviews. But if they would slip some of this stuff in between all of the dead guitarist worship and detuned guitar love, I might start buying it again.

(And yes, I love Hendrix and Stevie, but how much more can you say about them?)
