Last build for a while, I promise!! I ordered a one-piece ultralight swamp ash body from Guitar Mill. Planning an Esquire build. Butterscotch blonde, blackguard. Ordered a Lollar Special T for the pickup. I’m guessing MJT will do the finish work. I’ll probably order the neck from Warmoth...a quartersawn Fatback I suppose. I have to be done for a while...running out of room!! Inspiration piece attached.

How many have you built up? The finish work has been great so far

Well I’ve only finished some of the necks myself...I haven’t ever sprayed color myself. Same for this one, will go to MJT I think. I think this is build number 6.

Delivery day is Tuesday for this body. Incidentally, same day as my new Asher. Christmas in February? That’s a thing right?

Parts started to arrive today...got the body and the pickup. I think I made an error in “vintage correctness” but oh well. I ordered an “Esquire body”...which was cut 1/4” thinner than a standard Tele body. I believe the early Esquires with this thinner body all had white guards and by the time they got the black guards, they were standard thickness. Maybe I’m wrong...not a historian of these things. Anyway, mine is getting a black guard regardless. And also got the pickup—Lollar Special T Bridge.

The 1.5"-thick ones were all pine sandwich, and some of those were chambered. They were glued up from 3/4" pine shelf stock, same stuff Leo used for amp cabinets.

Interesting! I’m going to have a whacked out skinny swamp ash guitar with the wrong color finish and the wrong color pickguard then...probably the wrong shaped neck too. But who knows, maybe it will turn out to be the best guitar I own!
