Hi all, looking to tap into the collective wisdom!

As per my other recent threads, I've not played much recently, and thought that I'd reinvigorate myself by buying a new guitar to keep at work, one that I've wanted for a while - a P90 Les Paul. Looking at the options, it seems that the best bang for the buck is a Sire Larry Carlton L7V, and reading reviews I have settled to try buy one.

I already have a LP Standard Goldtop with humbuckers, and a Schecter Solo SiX LTD Goldtop... so as much as I love them, I was thinking of maybe changing color this time around. The only LC L7V available now, is the goldtop (or black, whcih I don't like), for 549Euro.

I then saw that the 'next generation' of L7Vs comes in new colors... including my all time favourtie color, Candy Apple Red... but it is 200Euro more. I placed the order last week, with a lead time of 'several months', only to find that they won't come into stock until late September!

I now face the dilema of having the probably excellent Goldtop version now, or waiting ~7 months for the 'new model'. The changes for the new one are:

- Stainless steel frets (changed from standard)
- Luminous side dots (changed from white)
- Tusq nut (changed from bone)
- Weight relieved body (previously solid)
- New headstock inlay

The new changes I guess could go either way, the only one that stands out is the SS frets, and maybe the weight relief (I play sitting down mostly, so it doesn't hugely matter). Just wondering about everyone's opinions as to is the new model is worth the extra $ and the wait?

I am on the market for a LP shaped object
I tried a few at my local shop, wasn't too much impressed , felt closer to an ESP LTD i also tried that day , same type of modernized thin light body , modern neck pocket : didn't feel like playing a LP , didn't sound like it either .
I was much more favorably impressed by their new Hollowbody jazz model ( same price ) , had a nice C neck , very close to an Ibanez G.Benson loud acoustic sound for a "small" body .

for the price ( 750-800$ ) the new Epiphones are better , especially the LP Custom with the ebony fretboards ( and the J.Cantrell Wino ) , and sound much closer to a "real LP ".
The Epiphones have a thicker/larger necker , especially the LP Standard

They have some transparent blue and seafoam green

Epi LP custom ebony

LP Custom 750$ , the Inspired by Gibson Custom is 523$ more for the actual Gibson shaped headstock and Gibson pickups ( 490R&498T )

If you don't carefor the Gibson look , try a Godin Summit Classic , or Summit SG
one of the the best neck I have ever played .
I'm looking for a used Summit SG in Matte green , as the Godin prices have jumped up suddenly : incredible guitar , the Sire looks , plays and sounds like a toy in comparaison : not comparable to an Epihone either : it feels like a 3-4000$ guitar
that's the best guitar I have tested in 10 years , I just missed one for 500$ used !
