You should be pleased - those lines are fantastic! The bookmatched top and the stripes of the laminated neck add a lot to the aesthetic.
It's all starting to come together! Experimenting a lot with finishes and stains now to hopefully not ruin it at the last hurdle!

Are you planning single pickup (and if so which kind)?

Yep, single P90. Gone for a Bare Knuckle Boot Camp Old Guard one, a bit of grit but not too crazy.

A little further today, pickup route and tailstop posts drilled:

Oh, and jack socket too.

Will be a couple of weeks away from it now what with the Easter holidays in the UK, but next job is to finish up the neck profile and where it meets the body.

After that there's a couple more little jobs and then we're into stain/clear coating territory. But for that I may have to wait a couple of months for better weather as I'll need to do a lot of it outside because of drying fumes etc.

So a little fitting of accessories today and a test fit up:

... and inevitably the screws made from cheese on the tuners resulted in:

😭

Any thoughts what to look for with replacement screws? Not going to chance using these again.

It's been a while since I've been able to work on the guitar, but finally got some time this weekend.

The focus has been to remove the tear out from the face of the guitar and replace it with something better. For reference this is the tear out I'm talking about:

So started by routing out as much as possible:

Then moved to chisels to clean up the sides:

I have the matching offcut from the back of this piece so I was able to use that to make the inlay:

Once it was at the correct size I glued and wedged it in place:

From there, once dry, it was just a matter of trimming it back to flush:

Pretty happy with the results:

Apart from the end grain in the cavity you literally cannot tell. Cavity is going to be shielded with either shielding paint or copper tape so you won't see anyway.
