Good nights.

Does anybody know what are the differences between the Silver and Emerald Lace Sensor? Has anybody tried both at the same guitar?

I'm planning to get a Lace Sensor for the middle position of an Stratocaster with an SD Little 59 in neck and a Dimarzio Chopper in bridge and I wonder which one to get, the silver or the emerald and the info at Lace website isn't very helpful.

PS. And, if someone knows of an online store to buy them which ships internationally, please let me know.

Haven't tried the Emerald, but I've heard nothing but good things about it as a neck pickup. In fact, people rave about it as a neck pickup. I've heard it's suitable for the middle position, but do not know anyone who has tried it.

On the international shipping, I bet if you contact Lace they can give you a dealer rundown. There might even be a dealer in your city you could order it from. Worth checking into.

For the neck position, the Emerald is great, a remarkable pickup.

The Silver would be a pretty good mid pup. Overall, if you ask me, the Emerald is "better"... :)

I also had a chance to try a "Dually" Lace (Emerald+Purple) recently, and I think it's a great "multifunction" neck pickup for a tele ot strat.

Well, I ordered a Silver one some days ago, but thanks for the input.

Anyway, what does the emerald make it better than the silver in your opinion?

well, it's still very subjective... but I think many players agree that the emerald, being not as hot as some other newer "colors", has a very clear, dynamic voice, not over-compressed, airy, you know.

your choice is a very good pickup too! i have a lace-sliver in the middle position of my strat and i'm very happy with it!

Great!

Having a SD Little 59 in neck, a Silver Lace Sensor in the middle and a Dimarzio Chopper in the bridge is gonna make a hot guitar for sure.

By the way, did you knew that Spain is the second european country with the highest medium altitude after Swiss? Except for the coast, Spain is very cold and snowy in the winter.

Sounds like you're getting a super cool axe!

Thank you for the geo insight! But I meant "hot" in a different way! :)

couple of things as I am late to this dicussion, Silver is usually used for the middle position, can also be found as a reverse wound, reverse polarity from Musiciansfriend.com and as a hot Silver from a UK seller on eBay. Silver very good for most forms of music, but in my mnd very good for country and southern and classic rock.
Emerald is a very nice pup, good in the neck position for playing texas rock and blues, sounds like a Tele neck pup. sounds more Texas special single coil in the middle position.
good vids of these position on Youtube, check out Scott Grove for silvers.

I know... it's been 5 years, but as this topic keeps appearing on Google searches and now I have the info, I'm answering my own question in the interest of other people with the same interest:

I've replaced a Lace Sensor Emerald with a Lace Sensor Silver (RW RP) for the middle position of my Strat (also has a Blue neck and Purple bridge). Comparing both, Emerald has a lower output, which can be a problem for mixing it with pickups with higher output, and is more nasal, airy and vintage voiced, Silver is louder, has more mids and is more concentrated, so it has more presence in a mix. Emerald can sound clean like any classical recording from the '60s, while Silver sounds more modern to me, Silver is beefier while still sounding like a single coil, maybe surrounding P90s territory.

To say it with an example, The Ventures surf sound is closer to the Emerald while The Space Cossacks surf sound is closer to the Silver.
