Just a little Fender / TV Jones lovefest, happening today in Sunny Seattle.

    L->R
2014 Fender Custom Shop "Double TVJ Relic", Red Sparkle w/Bigsby
2009 Fender Custom Shop "La Cabronita Especial", White Blonde
2011 Fender American "60th Anniversary Telebration Cabronita", Black "Carlita" (very bad factory nitro job, relics when you look at it!)

Still working on the family photo....

Nice, I really dig the red one with the Bigsby. I have a set of TV classics in a strat right now and have been pondering putting them where they belong, in a Tele ;).

Stunning, love me a Le Cab, I recently purchased a cousin of your red sparkle. I have a sea foam green sparkle which looks like the same specs.
They a fabulous guitars and who doesn’t love a bit of sparkle.

Gritty and full sounding! It's like a variation on a Duo Jet ;)

I recall, very solid guitars! I had to find something with a bigsby, for the style I'm playing these days.

Very cool. I like the red one with the Bigsby. I've got one on the bench that will end up very similar, except with a Jaguar trem and bridge from Mastery. I have a pair of filtertrons from Mojotone that need to be fired up.

I don't know when or if I'll finish it but I started a double TVJ style with Bigsby build a while ago. It'll be a double bound semi hollow mahogany (haven't committed to an F hole yet) in maybe Tobacco Burst. I've had this wood for 17 yrs and the rest of the stuff for a decade. I'd never even heard of a Cabronita when I started this.

The pups are Gretsch Filtertrons someone likely swapped out for TVJ's. I went into order a set of TVJ's & these were in a bag under the counter. 3 pups for $50, I'll give it a go. If they suck, real TVJ's will pop right in.

The Bigsby is a cut & rewelded LP unit & the neck taken from a 96 MIJ TLAC-100.

There seems to be some questions about what Cabronita actually means. Since only the body will be new & everything else is abandoned leftovers, I will call it the Telebastard. That right G.Rotten's "Telebastard".

On my other homemade Thinline my F-hole is a little more sleek than Fender's. Therefore is it known as G.Rotten's "LIL F-Hole".

Love the Cabs. Here's my '55 Tele (it cost me 55 quid). It's a 70s MIJ Antoria that I used as a Cabronita but have now switched for TV Jones T-Armond in bridge and T-90 in the neck. IMG_20190419_170502.jpg

Alright, mine's not using TV Jones pups nor is it a Tele, but it's my version of a short scale Cabronita. And I did it for less than $275!

I got the Squier Surf Green Bullet Mustang HH on sale for $129.99 (on sale at the time of this posting). I got a set of Gretsch Electromatic Blacktop Pickups, harness and screws from Sigler Music on sale for $39.95. I found Precision Guitar on Reverb.com to make a Tortoise pickguard to fit the pups (I had to drill the adjusting screw holes) to fit. I also got a set of Alnico V magnets, Gotoh tuners and a set of Gretsch "G" knobs.

    Before:

    Parts collection.jpg

I got it all assembled and had my Cabronita Mustang:

    Complete-Edited.JPG

I used the Master Volume and Master tone pots from the Gretsch harness, along with the pickup switch and output jack. I replaced the stock ceramic magnets with the set of Alnico Vs (humbucker bar magnets). The adjusting screws and springs had to be cut down to fit.

I still want a set of Gotoh S11 Chrome Plated Saddles and A TUSQ XL nut.

BTW, the SD HotRodded Humbucker setup has been set aside for another Mustang project.

Overall, everything went together as expected and now I have my budget Cab. It sounds as I expected and is a great little player. I love it through my AC15, it really crunches nicely. It's definitely a sweet little rocker and it was in a budget I could afford. Catching all the sales helped.

That's a sweet collection, man! I love that red one! Here's my girl, a Rutters body with TV Jones pups and a neck by Foundry Guitars in Vancouver, BC.
