Does anyone have experience with Lâg guitars? Apparently they're big in France, relatively well-known in the UK, and virtually non-existent here in the US.

Just wondering about build quality, comparable brands, personal impressions etc...

I bought a LAG Jet 100 a few years ago and really liked it, For a budget guitar It played very nice straight out of the box and didn't need any work at all.

The quality of the fit & finish was very good and I recall the pickups had a really nice clean tone. Even the trem arm kept in tune too.

The quirky shape of the strat was not to everyones taste but I quite liked it.
I would have upgraded to the next level of LAG guitars but the Harley Benton range of guitars were making waves & I bought a bunch of those :)

The store I worked at until recently sold a lot of their acoustics. They are a great sounding, well made line along the lines of Seagull, maybe more expensive than low end Epiphones, but less than Martin and Taylor. Made in China and distributed by Korg, who also handle Vox, and until recently Marshall, so I would think that they would be pretty common in larger well stocked shops. When you get to the upper end of their range (around $700-1000) I would rather have a low end Martin, or an Eastman. We didn't do many of their electrics, 'cause we did mostly Epiphone in that price range.
