But when Hole did their Unplugged concert, Courtney went a different route. Go to the very last minute in this clip (you wouldn't think that acoustic guitars are THAT tough...)

Also note the guitar that is been taken away from her prior to the song starting.

Certainly would, though they let the music speak for itself!

Yes, all musicians let the music speak for itself. And audiences of certain, more rowdy types of music like to see embellishments at the live shows. It's all a matter of doing what is appropriate.

Bit chicken and egg though. I don't think the Carpenters would have gained fans if they'd did it and I'm not sure Mr C would have lost fans if he didn't! In my case, the opposite would have been the case with The Carpenters and was the case with Nirvana

Oh yes, country has a big following, well, it always did. Granted it was many years ago but I had many happy years playing the American air bases with a country band.

Country exploded here in the U.S. during the early 1990's. Lots of great music, and some awful music also. Country music right now is terrible.

Have to admit that I mostly listen to US country stations on the internet. The ones I tend to go for play what I consider to be 'real' country, which doesn't have to mean 'old' but often does. I think country music is a bit like the Telecaster. Basic and functional. Once you start to over embellish either, strong rock influences on the music and humbuckers on the guitar, it becomes something else. It may well become something I quite like, but it's no longer the same thing. 'Keep it country!'

Yeah, I personally like there to be a distinction maintained between types of music. When rap and that stupid "snap beat" slithered its way into country, it was over.

I hear ya. I feel he was talented, but real overrated. I like how it went toward the antishredders and let kids know success could be in grasp with out the whole guitar god thing. Regardless grunge was nothing but another name for garage rock and not much more. If grunge changed a generation, help was needed.

I will say Dave Groll has well exceeded my expections.

Pathetic and pointless. Detracts from an otherwise brilliant performance

If you can get past the ridiculous ominous music in the background, this video is well worth watching...especially if you think Kurt killed himself.

I'm not one of those conspiracy theory nut jobs, but there are so many weird circumstances surrounding this whole ordeal that they really should open that case back up. I mean, one or two weird things, that happens all the time. But this case is littered with them.

I won't click on it. Couldn't stand her from the moment I first heard her and have no interest in listening now.

That concert sounds like a very terrible girl group trying to sound like Nirvana.

on the other hand, I had the "live through this" CD and it was actually pretty good.
