Wow, good luck with that! I would be really shocked if someone actually paid that much for it...

If someone paid 2 million for the white Strat that Hendrix played at Woodstock, someone will pay 1 million for this guitar.

How often do these auction houses blow it and put up an opening bid on a marquee item and then not end up realizing the price. That seems like it would be a huge embarrassment, and that they would acquaint themselves with the potential market before setting the opening bid.

Also apparently Courtney Love and Frances Bean both want this guitar back in the family pretty bad. It was awarded to Frances' ex-husband in a divorce settlement, and I guess he is the one who is selling it. Courtney's net worth is $150 million, and Frances's is $200 million, so they can pool their resources and buy a few of them if they feel like they need to.

Let me tell you something. I never sell guitars. Well almost never...

I bought a ‘59 00-18E from an estate once. I sold that sucker(for a profit) AS FAST AS I COULD. It was like pornography...no redeeming social value.

But as I look at current prices online, I think maybe I should not have been so hasty

Frances Bean Cobain is now executor of the cobain estate and she could care less how much the guitar sells for. She just wants it all gone and she doesn't need the money.

lots of stupid .com cash still out there with no purpose.
1m doesn't get ya much these days

I never really appreciated Mr. Cobain’s offerings until the Unplugged performance. That was the first time his songwriting and humor came through (to me). I later went back and listened to his (and fellow Unplugged supporting crew, the Meat Puppets) earlier catalogs, and (while I’m not a huge fan), I have a greater appreciation for their music and their approach to song craft, and actually like some of it.

As far as the guitar, I’d play that thing in a New York Minute (if it felt good and sounded good)...it reminds me of something Mr. Lightnin’ Hopkins would play—a bit unwieldy and very unusual in its construction and execution, but sounds good in the right hands.

I have no desire to buy a celebrity-owned instrument, but I went ahead and looked in my guitar fund; I realize I’m about $999,500 short.

I guess I’ll wait for now.

Not sure why Cobain seems to be be disrespected by so many folks here. There're a lot of folks playing Madison Square Living Room who may feel they have better licks, but how many of them can say they've written songs with the same sort of impact and hard truths he did? I'm betting not many. Nevermind has sold 30 million copies, so apparently you're all vastly superior in terms of taste and knowledge to those 30 million people. You should be very proud of yourselves and pat yourselves on the back quite firmly.

I’ll bet that it will fetch 2.1 million. I’m not a fan at all but I don’t matter. He was like a god to some fans despite himself.

David Grohl is my favorite. I think he’s a great role model.

As a guitar, it doesn't appeal to me much. As an iconic item of rock history, I like it very much. That guitar was perhaps my generation's Woodstock Strat.

Not a fan of that guitar. But, it does represent his aggression towards convention. Its a little contradictory though. If he really wanted to buck convention, he should have selected a $200 guitar to desecrate, instead of recognizing and sanctioning a capitalistic success and dynasty like CF Martin as superior. GAS even got to Cobain.

I think a lot of people think about Kurt’s decision making process WAY more than he ever did.

I'm wondering how Francis' net worth is more than Courtney Love's..... I mean, isn't Courtney Love the celebrity of the two?
