Kris Marshall is pretty familiar to British TV viewers, having starred in a number of popular productions and ads. Rather than list them here, which may not mean much in Wisconsin, I'll just provide the link to his Wikipedia entry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kris_Marshall.

By coincidence his character Colin Frissell, in the 2003 film "Love Actually", went to Milwaukee in search of romance.

I wouldn't have thought of him as Dr Who, but then again, he might well make a good job of it. I haven't watched it since Tom Baker's day anyway.

The official reason was that he was fed up with being away from his family for so long. DiP is filmed in Guadeloupe.

With the murder rate on that tiny island (one a week!) he probably thought it wise to get out of there. Ranks right up there with Midsomer on the list of places where you're going to get killed sooner or later.

Ben Miller was far better in Death In Paradise, the new guy was a bad joke, he would make a far superior Doctor too.

I think he's awful in everything he does. Arrogant SOB when interviewed too.

I detested him in the awful, cloying BT couple advert from ten years back. If his acting is anything like that......

Yeah - That's what they all say.... But they take the job though....

Anyway - He was OK in DIP. The first guy was better, and actually that first crew of actors was better.

    Yes.
    He is on the telly.
I mentioned a while back that I was hoping that Kris would be the new Dr, more than fits the mould of Eclestone or Tennent and surpasses that of Capaldi or Smith.
So, if its true then imho it will be a very good choice.

Peter Noone is the new Dr. Who?

Well, I guess since on the Internet "noone" is the annoying alternate way to write "no one," it might just be appropriate after all, eh?

I'm assuming in his first episode, he'll go back and visit Henry VIII? ;) :D

I don't think any of the previous actors were cool enough to be The Doctor. However, being The Doctor made them cool.

Won't know until we see him in action. I started out disliking some of the Doctors and then being bummed when they left.
