My 86 year old Dad in Canada is a big fan of Kris. He's seen him several times. My Dad turned me on to him many years ago. Kris lived the dream while I sit here and type. His lyrics are amazing and in the league of Dylan and Prine. I'd love to sit and have a beer with him and my Dad and just shoot the breeze.
Many blessings to you in your retirement and thanks for all that you blessed us with Kris.

He's someone I think is one of the best songwriters in the business and a terrific overall performer. I've always enjoyed his music and loved singing his songs. He deserves a rest, he's had a busy life!

He certainly had a way with words. I'd say at age 84, he's due to enjoy the rest of his life without the demands of celebrity.

I must admit, I had thought he already passed for some reason. Glad he's still kickin. Some of these guys still going at it into their 80's. They must love it because I doubt they need the money.

Not many songs that start off with lyrics this strong:

Well, I woke up Sunday morning
With no way to hold my head that didn't hurt
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad
So I had one more for dessert

Then I fumbled through my closet for my clothes
And found my cleanest dirty shirt
And I washed my face and combed my hair
And stumbled down the stairs to meet the day

    ...from Sunday Morning Coming Down

Add to the list he married Rita Coolidge. Blew it, but still.
He also taught English at West Point.
Got to see him a few times here in Houston. Jesus Was a Capricorn song book helped me immensely.

He's one of the greatest songwriters of the 20th century, period. Me and Bobby McGee has to be a top five song in the genre with all the Janis Joplin history and just so many great lines.
"Bobby thumbed a diesel down"; "windshield wipers slappin' time".
So many great lines. So many great songs. Classic country voice.
    He's a true poet.

I love the story of how Kris pitched that song to Johnny Cash. I don’t know how much if it is true but it’s a great story!
