Just finished a great knotty pine body I got from Marc Rutters. I initially planned to finish it with nitro, but due to the cold weather here in Norway I went with Wudtone finish. Andy @ Wudtone has been really helpful, so I can really recommend this finish as an alternative to lacquer. Especially for woods with nice grain. This finish is clear basecoat with an "aged" topcoat. (There`s also some shellac on the body btw) This finish is super easy to apply, just be sure you sand it really good before you start. And just some light steelwooling between coats.

I think it looks really nice for now. And it sounds great acoustically. A really ringing sound, pine sounds different than swamp ash and alder. Think I`m gonna put in some onamac pickups.

Some other specs; gold anodized pickguard, glendale bridge plate, C&J Tooling steel saddles, tro-c neck (really thin nitro finish + light aging).

Naughty pine! I like the knot on top, on the back, even though I don't care too much for knots.

niiiiiice. I actually wanted that exact body from Marc, but went with this one:

I am thinking of maybe amber shellac finish like Rick Kelly does, but also thinking of possibly staining/dying it a nice darker brown.

    Choices, choices...

I have hand-applied 4 coats of amber shellac and it's turning out so great. It's hard to photograph in my dungeon, but the color is rich, the grains are popping, all the character of the wood is really enhanced. I like this.
