The news of her passing spread through the punk community like wildfire. Tributes came from everywhere, this one has some great photos

Thanks fendertx, you listen to so many bands sometimes and forget about a few. Saw the Muffs in Hollywood years ago and always liked their energy. Good music to me. I'm 65 now and I still like me some Muffs music. I also liked that she played those small solid body Stratotone style guitars of one or another brand. I love those things and I don't own one!

It is good music, you can hear their influence on many of the bands that broke later in the 90's. Kim has one of the best screams in the biz.

Very sad. It really is amazing, the increase in reported deaths from als. For the longest time it was only Lou Gehrig and Woody Guthrie. Now I know people who gave died from it. I don’t know if it is better diagnosis or increased frequency. Still, so sad. Rest In Peace.

Great melodies. I used to listen to the Muffs quite a bit years ago. Sad about her passing. She’d just put out a new album a bit ago. I had been meaning to check it out.

Their final album came out a few days ago. According to her bandmates, she oversaw every bit of it despite her deteriorating condition. She also did a fundraiser for ALS last year and said that it ran in her family, not letting on about her own condition.

    That's even more heartbreaking.

The Muffs played here (Turf Club in St. Paul) on 8/26/17. I couldn't make it, but friends of mine opened for them and hung out with them, and nothing was mentioned about her having any problems. She must have hid it well.

I somehow missed the Muffs in their heyday.

Got turned onto them in the last couple years.

As one of the videos put it Rest in Punk.

I don't really know anything about her, most of what she did was after my time in the biz. But my friends the Rubinoos from Berkeley were truly devastated, and that says enough for me to regret her passing.
