Tele-Meister
69+ yrs... of course a ga-zillion guitars, LOVE to record, YouTube channel, etc. FINALLY I got a Tele after all these years. Strat guy for soooo long...and of course the "Gibson era" when trying to be a rock god in the 70's with the flying V, 335 and a L6S. My current V is a Dean and the Gibson V long gone. Several Strats in the barn, Guilds, Rics... all decent stuff. Don't do the acoustic thing much, unless they ask for church. ...but they tell me (at 69) I tend to rock out too much for the sound booth! lol!
Honestly.... When Squire hit the scene I kinda turned my nose up at them...and the Tele was a twangy thang... even though I knew Page and various rockers prove me wrong. But I saw a CV60's...I'm a sucker for bursts and binding...and had to have it. TOO many reviews praise the Classic Vibes...so I ordered it online...something I rarely do with guitars...gotta play them first. Figured if I didn't like it...I'd find a new owner and the price wasn't going to really hurt either. THE THING just screams rock and roll. EVH would have sounded great on a Tele if that was his main axe. ...Same with Blackmore, Hendrix... you pick. After a mild setup and fret stuff... it's just as good as any of my other guitars and blows away any vintage garbage that people adore nowadays because it's 60 years old. Heck... some was garbage back then. When CBS took over, people wouldn't touch the stuff. Silver faced amps...no way..only Black faced. CBS Strat....no thanks. It's a good day to be a guitar player nowadays. Thanks Squire..and Fender... you've drastically changed my mind.
BTW..looks like a fun forum around here. Will enjoy being part of it
Merry Christmas
