Great performance! Check him out as the priest in “Little Murders”. Too funny. In less than 5 minutes he owns that movie.

He was really good in The Eagle has Landed, with Michael Caine and Robert Duvall. It's one of those weird movies where you inadvertently catch yourself rooting for the bad guys o_O

    Great flick.

Clint did Where Eagles Dare a year or two before Kelly's Heroes. Such a contrast, but both are great movies.

Likely that's why there was the scene early in the movie where Caine and his men are disgusted when they see a boxcar full of Jews on their way to the gas chamber as a way to introduce them as the "good" Germans. I watched it last year on Amazon Prime and thought that it was a pretty good mid-'70s potboiler with a great cast.

I assume the anachronistic but lovable Oddball was the inspiration for the line in Monty Python's "Twentieth Century Vole" sketch, when Graham Chapman as film producer "Irving C. Saltzberg, Jr." plots his next star-studded epic: "Well now we're getting somewhere. No, wait. A new angle! In the snow, instead of the tree, I see Rock Hudson, and instead of the dog I see Doris Day and, gentlemen, Doris Day goes up to Rock Hudson and she kisses him. A love story. 'Intercourse Italian Style.' David Hemmings as a hippie Gestapo officer!"

the tunes oddballs tanks played when going into battle did seem more 60s than 40s tho.

I just popped it in the DVD player and watched it. I think I saw it at a Drive-In when it came out.
