Before everyone who knows what the 40th anniversary telecaster is freaks out, I am NOT butchering my 40th telecaster to do this build. I ordered a custom body and neck to match my 40th from The Guitar Mill for this project, and they both turned out great. I would highly recommend! I'm a good ways into the project now, so I'll post pics of the progress I've made throughout the day. It's looking great so far! Here is the first pic, of the body and neck from The Guitar Mill.

Fender locking tuners installed on neck. Bridge that is laid on body isn't the bridge that'll go on the guitar, the bridge is supposed to arrive tomorrow. Pickup is a Nashville Lion Cavalier Pickup

Control plate will be reversed, with volume and tone only (no selector switch)

Just from different places, like I said the body and neck were made by Mario Martin at the Guitar Mill, and the rest of the supplies came from warmoth, local music stores, amazon, etc. I tried to do some research on Keith's guitar and also had some inside info from someone who is close to his guitar tech. One thing I didn't find out is how he has Clarence wired, so I assumed it was just a standard volume/tone setup (not sure why I assume that)

There is only one "Clarence" Tele. That ain't it. Keith Urban has nothing to do with it.

I'm sure it will be nice though for what it is.

Come on now, what was the point of that? KU's "Clarence" tele has nothing to do with the guitar you're talking about. Your post was completely irrelevant to this thread. Go knock someone else's build.

After string up and set up. Plays and sounds great. Has tons of pop to it. Have a few more things to do: put two string trees on (need to find a smaller drill bit or I would have already done that), may change the saddles to match the gray saddles on KU's 40th, and have an issue with the volume pot wiring. Turning the volume knob doesn't affect the volume, stays around full volume no matter which way you turn the knob. So I'll have to see if I can find out what's going on there. Maybe a grounding issue?

    Nice looking build!

Did you ground the third lug of the volume pot?

I've never been a fan of gold hardware but wow that guitar looks nice. Perfect match for that body and neck. I may have to reevaluate my anti-gold prejudice.

If you are going to post it, you are asking for comments.
    That was mine.:)

How goofy would you think John Mayer or Joe Bonamassa were if they decided to call their guitars Lucille? Just because Keith Urban can't be original, doesn't mean you can't be.
Next thing you'll be getting one of his info-mercial guitars.

Well, I tried. I'm new to soldering and had trouble getting a good connection to the back of the pot. I thought I got it but I'll check that again tonight. The third lug is supposed to be pushed back and soldered to the pot itself, right? And thanks I appreciate it!

I really love how it's turned out, especially since I'm kinda new to the build process. Thanks for the comment!

I'll post a video of how it sounds once I get everything finished up with the wiring. One of the best clean sounds of any of my guitars!

Ah I see, so we've gone from criticizing my guitar to criticizing me. Classy.

Think I'll get an Epiphone LesPaul copy and name it "Macawber".
    Will everyone think I'm cool?:lol::lol:

I didn't criticize you or your guitar to start out.
I criticized the ridiculous name that Keith Urban put to it either out of ignorance or a complete lack of respect for Telecaster history.

I did throw a mild dig your way after I was told I shouldn't have commented on your post.

I'll say for the 2nd time I think your build looks good. Myself, I'd lose the part about where the idea for it came from is all. That's just my opinion of course, which is what a forum is all about

Good luck. Hope you get it playing great.
