Keith Richards 5 string tuning is the same as open D tuning without the first string.

I always played it standard, but I learned from Get Yer Ya Yas Out. I read something somewhere, can't remember where. I think it may have been open tuning and capo'd, IDK. It's been a while, and I could be misremembering, but I remember trying it and it sounded just like the Let It Bleed version.

If you watch any live show, Keith is always capoed at 7. Always.

all the tunings you guys are talking about are 1 5 1 3 5 which is the same as bottom 5 strings of an open E chord and top 5 strings of an open A chord.

one time Les Paul and Django Reinhardt were riding in a cab together and Les was talking about some song and mentioned "C". Django was like "what's a C?"

Semi-serious question - why install the low E tuning peg if it will only ever be 5 string Open G?

Haha. Yes, I did question myself on that later. I wasn’t thinking about the five string fact when I installed the tuners (vintage Kluson style) and just banged em all in. I had to do a little filing and sanding on the edges of a couple of tuners as my peg holes were a little off perfect.

Didn’t think about it all until I went to string her up. Now I guess I just don’t want to see an empty hole up there when I look at it.
