Has there ever been a Keef Richards Signiture tele offered by Fender and Keef??
As I recall, he likes his different Teles for different reasons. I doubt there could be just *one* Keef model.
I think the fender custom shop did a line of Micawbers. I don't know if they were official or unofficial. And fender japan makes Sonny and Micawbers. Or used to.
seems like it would be a very successful venture if they had a Keef model or two..
I can only imagine that he declined any/every offer from F.
But they eventually went with an enlarged neck pup route with their US and MIM standards, so there's your unofficial sig models.
No. No knighthood either.
Wow! Sounds like a MAN of Principle!
As previously mentioned, fender Japan make a Keith model. Although they aren't listed as a Keith model it's obvious what they were going for.
The custom shop released a Micawber type Nocaster years ago that had the brass bridge and humbucker etc but the body wear and tear wasn't the same as Keith's by any means.
I'm a huge Keith fan and have tons of memorabilia and have been after a Keith model for years!
I found two options
Eternal Guitars make a Micawber model
Or have one built.
The bridge is easy enough to get from Armadillo guitar parts and the relic etc is upto you.
I recently had one built for me as I was fed up of looking. However when I send the builder the spec I said "Keith inspired, not Keith copy" as I wanted my tele to look worn but didn't fancy an exact copy/signature model.
Also there is a guy on eBay under the seller name Relicaster71 that builds them.
Here's one he built and sold recently.
Hope this helps mate.
If I were looking for something along the lines of Micawber I'd start here: http://www.wildwoodguitars.com/electrics/fender/avts/52tele_hum.htm
keef never signed off on one,
but Fender Japan makes them
just as they make the jeff beck tele-gib
cij vs real deal (bottom)
G&L make a pine Keef of sorts
he has micawbre and malcom which are more or less the same thing (blackguard teles with a humbucker)
and he has his black 74 custom
those are the three hes most known for, of course he has more but those are his main ones.
What are those? A special run for that retailer?
Here's a Fender 52 Heavy Relic Tele "Keef" LTD
... from the Cutom shop. not very truthfull though.
Fender 53 Relic Tele "Keef" Special
That first one is horrible!
Yes. part of their "Thin Skin Nitro" series. See here: http://www.wildwoodguitars.com/electrics/fender/avts/index.htm
Micawber-style for the budget minded...
How in the world is there not a keef Signature Tele..???
Because Keith is unique and his guitars are his guitars. Plus he don't need the money lol I remember reading somewhere when fender asked Keith about copying micawber he replied "just get a guitar and play the dam thing and it will wear around you" look at the pick wear etc on micawber and he's bang on
because he doesnt want one. Fender cant just make them without his permission. same reason there is no Bruce Springsteen esquire except very limited editions that cost $10,000
