How have I never heard this before? This is the kind of stuff I listen to all the time, yet somehow this artist has escaped me until today.
OMG what a song, what a guitar tone, great solo (fits the song like a glove).

I discovered her a couple days ago! In State has been on repeat during my morning commute.

It could be because she is Canadian... but yes, she is great!

I'm a long time fan. Too bad she hasn't done much musically for a while.

That's an interesting album. She has such a kind of soft mousy voice but she's singing about alcoholic behavior, suicide by cop, "mouthy" women, and all kinda stuff... It took me a couple plays before I realized how many of the songs are about these lost and problematic lives. Guess the title of the album should've given me a hint...

One of the reasons this album moves me is that I had a dear friend who died in the 90s that REALLY would've related to it. Every time I hear it I think "Colleen would've loved this..."

Dig her. This is the song that I discovered her with, many years ago:

I had forgotten about her!!!! I remember the first time I heard "Back To Me" I was in crush mode. "WHO is this??? This chick is AWESOME!!!" My favorite kind of Americana- slightly dark, with rocking guitars.

Here's an interview from 2015... it appears she's quit the music business, at least since then... which is a damn shame... songwriters like her don't come along often. Why she never caught on, at least with the "outlaw country/Americana" crowd, I'll never know... I'll bet she would NOW, as that is a growing segment of the listening audience, thanks to things like SiriusXM, enough that they have their own annual cruise. Now I gotta' go buy all her records....

Funny. I hadn't heard of her, but immediately thought that she sounded Canadian.

Takes one to know one I guess.

She’s back playing again, some shows here and there. I haven’t heard anything about a new album though.

I've had the pleasure of seeing her twice at The Grey Eagle in Asheville, NC. She is just an amazing songwriter and such a joy to see live.

"Back To Me" is one of the rocking-est tunes ever.

And her last album, Voyaguer, is special from beginning to end. "A Soft Place To Land" should've been a hit.

I was first introduced to her on Austin City Limits when it was a great show for launching new acts. Not so much anymore. She totally blew me away. Most of the Youtube clips from her set on that show are kind of grainy and low quality now.

I find her songs to be almost haunting -- very raw and right to the heart of the matter. Her songs are musically and lyrically rich:
