Screenshot_20200523-105429.png We live near Fayetteville NC. Evidently there was a severe storm with a micro down burst or something either while we were out last night (drove to the beach for cabin fever reasons) or overnight last night. Nothing else in our 3 acres was touched. My wife had been planning for my high school senior daughter's "graduation" pictures to be taken here. We were offering daughter's friends the use of it for their pics too. Not now. Screen cap off my wife's Facebook... I'm not feeling like going back out to take more pics now.

The pergola was straddling the deck beside it.

Well, technically, that's a "blow," not a "suck," but still a huge pain. The whole thing with seniors not getting a graduation is a bummer too. Hang in there.

With some ropes and a couple helpers, you should be able to set that thing upright.

Sorry this happened, but I'd consider taking the photos with the overturned pergola. I've seen many graduation photos with an upright one, but I think one in that setting would be interesting, memorable, and ultimately good. I'm thinking it'd be a "2020 threw some difficult challenges at us, but we kept going" statement. Also, congratulations on your daughter's graduation.

(Edited "through" to "threw." Getting hit in the head with a crowbar must still be having an effect).

We're looking at that possibility. It's going to depend on how badly the joints got hammered. Thanks.

LOL, I thought of this too... It would be a very 2020 picture. I'm gonna wait until my wife can see some humor in this before suggesting it though. And thank you. She's a really good kid and top 3% of her class. We're very proud of her.

Great idea! That pretty much encapsulates what it must feel like to be a graduating senior this year.

I agree. It looks like you could flip it back over.

    How was it anchored?

We had someone put it up. I know it wasn't into concrete, I think there were foot plates that were anchored into the ground but I'm not sure how. In any event all the foot plates are attached to the legs, not the ground, so not anchored well obviously.

Might be an easier fix than u think. If you have any pole to spare on each corner, dig out as much as you can and plop it back in with a couple bags of concrete at each corner.

Those corner poles should've been two feet in the ground. If there isn't that much pole, screw some treated 2x4s to the poles (below grade) and cement them in. It won't go anywhere.

Good looking pergola, by the way.

Before you flip it back over, get your daughter (and maybe her friends) to pose with it standing on their heads. This is the most Topsy-Turvy year I've ever witnessed, and a Class of 2020 picture upside down would cap it off perfectly.
I'm grateful no one was hurt. Tell your daughter congratulations......and her future has GOT to be better from here on out.

I agree with the pix taken in the upside down pergola. it'll be very reminiscent of this year

Yup. Gotta watch those wind gusts. I live in FL and after Irma, I saw a lot of that. My girlfriends porch got ripped off her house.

We're going to inspect the joints and see if we can flip it up.

That same system blew through Charlotte and there are trees down everywhere. A simple trip to Lowe’s this morning involved multiple detours and took far too long!
