Just playing my Gretsch. That’s all.

I haven’t played it in a few weeks. Been sticking pretty hard on the Teles for gigs lately. So today I grabbed the Silver Sky and the Gretsch and decided to switch it up again.

The SS is still just an amazing guitar. To me, it’s everything an S/S/S guitar ought to be. Those tones are just in there. And it’s so comfortable and well made. But…

I hadn’t plugged my Gretsch with the TV Jones ‘trons into my Budda yet. It just hadn’t worked out. So I had to try it. I’m glad I did. It’s just reinforced what I already knew- that TV Jones makes awesome ‘Trons, and that Gretsch is making some absolutely insane guitars these days. It takes me a minute to get used to it when I pick it up, because of the bridge style and geometry. But once I get dialed into “that Gretsch thing” it’s just so good. I’m really happy to have it in the lineup.

That’s all.

For those who don’t know what guitar I’m talking about, it’s a “Vintage Select” series G6129T-59.

I need to start using my Gretsch again, too.
I haven’t gigged with it in years.
It’s still easily my best sounding guitar.
My Cabronita sounds almost as good, has a B bender, and is much friendlier to play past the 14th fret.
TV Jones equipped Gretsch guitars rule!

@Jakedog Because of you I've been seriously scoping these out.
Can't decide between the 'Tron version, or the Dynasonic version.

I'm a big Dynasonic fan...but the newer ones just don't *quite* do it for me. They just don't have the same punch as the originals. So I'm seriously leaning towards the Trons.

Just had a pretty major car repair (wifes car), that was *just* about the price of one of these. That set me back a bit.

You're killing me here man....(keep it up....sooner or later I'll cave.:)).

Definitely one of my all-time favorite guitars right there ,,, and I've never even played one yet! Enjoy it!

A piece of piano music that I learned well enough to get a sticker and a gold star. The copyright is 1928, though I think I played it in about 1962 at age 9 or 10.

Here I am, grim-faced and big-eared, with my fellow piano pupils, assembled for our spring recital.

This piece of piano music was supposed to have been posted in Fendergyrl’s thread. I’ll copy it and move it over.

Do you have a favourite pickup position?
Same one as all my other guitars- bridge. I spend 90+% of my time there no matter what guitar I’m playing. But honestly, there’s no bad sounds in this guitar. The TV Jones Filtertrons are amazing. I’ve never experienced this much clarity from an electric guitar.

I gigged a Tennessean (hi-lo trons) in high school, late 60s. A great sounding guitar for everything from Stax and Motown to Groove Holmes. Never should have sold it.

Nobody else around here seems to respect those factory hi-lo trons, maybe I’m the only one to have had them.

I feel your pain regarding the price of repairs tallying alongside guitar prices. Our dryer just broke down. When the repairman named his price, I thought ... But ... but ... for that price ... I could buy a ... !!!

I had a ‘61 Tennessean with hi-lo’s. I wish I’d never let it go. Love those pickups.
