Disintegration was great, but Head on the Door was my favorite Cure album. Saw them a couple of times in the late 80's. Never disappointed. I remember spending many hours trying to learn Cure songs. The garage band I was playing in played Killing An ****. We didn't do the greatest job. :)

I didn't realize they were still at it.
I was dating this girl that saw herself as a neo hipp//emo chick. I humored her by going to see.the Cure in Atlanta Iin the mid nineties. I thought she said Cult, but either way didn't know them or.care really. I'm glad it.was the Cure however as it was a great concert. They used the venues poor acoustics masterfully.
It had horrible acoustics but with creative.stage placement, they used the rooms delay to match the tempo of the songs . Brilliant! Great show that made me a.fan. I do like the earlier albums better than everything after Wish though.

I was a huge Cure fan throughout the the 80s and got to see them live when they toured for Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me and Disintegration. Great shows as I recall, they really worked hard to give the fans their moneys worth. Personally I lost interest after Disintegration, but I'm glad they're still around and touring.

I didn't know they were on tour. That's good news, I would think.

We may have to go again. The last time we saw them, wasn't so great. I'd like to be left with a better impression, as I have a stupefyingly large collection of their recordings.

I saw them in 2016. I'm not the world's biggest fan, but I like a lot of their music and had been wanting to see them since the late '80s. My friends who are true fans loved the setlist. I felt it was far too heavy on their dirgey material and I went home disappointed. Several long slow songs in a row, followed by one short uptempo song, then three more long slow songs. That type of pacing wears me down.

The Cure is one of my top favorite bands ever- easily top 3 and in my pantheon of greatness. I think Disintegration is one of the best guitar albums of all time (just listen to all that dripping chorus and delay through some great headphones and you'll see), and that Just Like Heaven is the most perfect pop song ever written. Ever.

But they're also on my bucket list since I've never seen them live. I had a chance back in college in '93, but I let it slip away thinking I'd get another chance soon after. Fast forward 30 years and I was beginning to worry that it would never happen. Then two days ago I got a Facebook notification of tickets going on sale today- I didn't even know they were on tour! So, today my buddy went on and got tickets for the Tampa show for a group of us.

Man, I was as giddy as can be when he told me we had tickets. I can't remember the last time I was genuinely this excited to see a show (or really for anything)! As a middle-age guy, my emotions tend to be pretty blah- it's great to feel that sense of pure joy once in a while. I CANNOT WAIT!!!!😊

Anybody else out there going to see the Cure on this tour (or have seen them already)? Or feeling psyched to see one of your all time favorites soon?
This is the 1 band on my bucket list to see live. I am so jealous. I would have loved to have seen the Trilogy shows.

Hey, hope you have a blast!
I have several upcoming concerts I'm looking forward to, but none more than finally seeing Peter Gabriel again in September. First time since the So tour, because he never seems to come around these parts. I'll be traveling 500 miles for that one.

Big fan but I've never seen them live. Congrats on the tickets. I'm envious. The closest they're coming to me is Vancouver. Maybe.

Oh yea, I would have loved to see the Trilogy show, too. I have it on DVD, but I'm still excited to see what they play!

I'm not sure what they will play this tour, but their setlist from the last show in December 2022 would be amazing if they do anything like this:

Alone
Pictures of You
A Night Like This
Lovesong
And Nothing Is Forever
Cold
Burn
At Night
M
Play for Today
Trust
Want
A Strange Day
Push
Shake Dog Shake
From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea
Endsong

Encore:
I Can Never Say Goodbye
Three Imaginary Boys
One Hundred Years
Primary
A Forest

Encore 2:
Lullaby
The Walk
Friday I'm in Love
Doing the Unstuck
Close to Me
In Between Days
Just Like Heaven
Boys Don't Cry
10:15 Saturday Night
Killing "Another"

32 songs, man what a show that would be! And nearly three hours of non-stop music!

Better yet, there's a recent tweet from The Cure re Ticketmaster & rebates for fans that have been skinned on previous tix.
I don't understand the details, but appreciate the effort.
Peace - Deeve
Yeah, Robert Smith has been the person to take on Ticketmaster and their practices.

I won't be going after all. Last week when I looked, Ticketmaster themselves only had tickets on the sides slightly behind the stage for $186 CAD each. Yes, behind the stage.

However, I found front row floor seats from a reseller. They were only $1529 USD each. Remember when scalping was illegal? And ticket vendors used to limit sales to individuals at something like 4 each to prevent it? What a racket.

Shameful. It would be one thing if the band saw some of this ridiculous profit, but just to line someone else's pockets? Screw it, I'm boycotting Ticketmaster forever.

I watched the video of their Hyde Park concert recently - good stuff.

The band photo I saw to promote this tour looked like Robert Smith and some people I couldn't name in a million years but that's probably always been the case with this band (Tolhurst and others excepted).

Modesty prevents me from noting that I have been slipstreamed into an 80s new wave act and we've done more gigs than rehearsals to date by dint of my existing familiarity with the material including The Cure.

Modesty further prevents me from noting that joining the new wave act was the final 'push' to get me to take up a modeler again, many long years after optimism about modelers was built up then dashed in the days of the Johnson Millennium and J-Station. In one of those Sliding Doors moments when life can take one of two paths, I was eyeing up the then-new Fender Prosonic but the salesman portrayed the Johnson as a panacea, a cornucopia of all the amps and effects I would ever need. It even had a Windows editing app!

The Prosonic wasn't everyone's cup of tea then or now but had I bought it instead I might have preempted the much more expensive chase of tube amp tone that came later in life and it would have helped me avoid digital modeling until, at least, digital modeling was ready for its close-up.

Back to the present day, enough people whose opinions (and sound) I respect were embracing Fractal in particular. The criteria will no doubt be familiar:
-a small(er) stage footprint
-consistent base tone venue to venue regardless of room shape/size
-reduction or elimination of onstage volume wars
-plethora of effects, amp models, cabs etc. and the ability to craft presets whether for one's own purposes or soundalikes for covers
-quick setup/teardown
-traveling light!

The point of all this is I've cooked up what I think is a fantastic set of presets and scenes (in Fractal lingo) for various bands/songs, particularly The Cure and Just Like Heaven. Getting that strummy rhythm sound then switching to the chorused/delayed single-note sequence is fun and effective. But 'homework' is a must!

I know I talked a lot about me here but what can I say? I'm modest. ;) And managed to get back on topic. :D
