One more vote for 7
And BTW, the name of the color is Sea Foam Green, NOT Sea Foam Cream...
Numbers 5 or 7, but I'd do *something* about the trim ring around the bridge pickup. Eliminate somehow. Understood it's photoshop, but that part looks funky (in a bad way).
Is it? He said it was a FSR color. Perhaps it's the recent Sea Foam Pearl?
All of them.
But if I could only have one, it would be 1 - the uncovered pickups look meaner.
Yet another vote for 5......
I know. It's a ridiculous, stupid prejudice I have.
Beautiful guitar. Plays like a dream.
Oh, I dunno …. one of 'em
Number 6 for me.
That’s my favorite pic on TDPRI. You’ve got two awesome Telecasters, a cool hat, a cool shirt, and your one of the best guys on the forum!! No lie[emoji57]
Actually, it is a Fender Special Run color and the color is called Sea Foam Pearl.
moosie... you are right. It is the recent Sea Foam Pearl.
This is the way Fender builds the guitar: maple neck, black guard, covered humbuckers with trim rings.
I opted to buy this one as “body-only” because I prefer a rosewood neck and have enough maple neck Teles already.
Interestingly, Fender most often assembles with white pick guards, which I almost always change to black. In this case, Fender went with a black guard. With this light pastel body color, I think I will go with a cream pick guard.
I also generally replace pickups on Fender guitars with different pickups of my preference, and change the pickup selector switch to a Les Paul style toggle switch. With these mods, made to my preference, I really bond with the instrument.
I plan to bolt on one of my Fender necks and play the guitar, as is, for a while before changing anything.
Three aspects of this particular FSR model that made me want it:
1) The color is awesome and nothing at all like any of my other guitars in color
2) The HH format. I only have one other HH Tele and it’s a Candy Apple Red Blacktop, with the rib/belly cut on the back, in which I’ve installed a pair of Gibson Classic ‘57 pickups - I LOVE it!
3) The body has the rib/belly contour on the back. Very few Tele models have this and I much prefer having it. I play sitting nearly all the time, have a fairly lean build, and the rib cut hits me right at the rib cage. I find the rib cut on the back makes the guitar noticeably more comfortable against my body. Fender put the rib cut on American Standard Teles for a while (and on the Tele Blacktop), but stopped doing that when they changes the American Standard to be the American Professional.
Being a Fender Special Run (FSR), it is not likely to be available very long.
I’m not sure what you mean. Fender builds this with trim rings on both humbuckers, as you can see in the photo in my previous post.
It was a quick and dirty Photoshop job just to give me a general idea of the overall look in the various permutations that I’m considering.
I generally prefer rosewood boards, the darker the better. I do like maple boards, as well, and like you not the pale ones. I’ll take a tinted maple board over a pale maple board any time.
I realized it was photoshop, and I don't care what Fender does . I just don't like the look of that ring on the bridge. It looks like square binding extending from the pickguard or something.
I should add that I've always had trouble with the look of bridge HBs on Teles, for similar reasons. It's not you, it's me
Number 2 for me, but I'd love to see it with some zebra pickups too...but that's not a choice.
