Hey Ford, lets go get a beer!
64 - 65 BF
What amp though...
To buy an amp! Maybe they're on the run from some galactic overlord.
Fender Custom Series '57 Hand-wired Bandmaster 5E7
$2499 and add in some NOS tubes for an upgrade.
Probably a Victoria Double Deluxe.
I wouldn't be too ticky but 64 Deluxe Reverb would be my choice.
Just for fun, say aliens give you $3K to spend...
They did but I have to spend it on their imports.
Fun idea for a thread! I'd go with a Carr Viceroy, $2930 + $50 S&H, and I'd tip them the leftover $20 for the hell of it.
Since the alien scenario is a little far-fetched, maybe I'll just reverse-engineer one next time I build something.
It's their D-Style amp. I've been listening to clips tonight since I saw that Ian Thornley from Big Wreck plays one and I've been going down that rabbit hole since I watched their videos in the thread in Music to Your Ears.
Anything but Slim Whitman.
This, and yes she does.
I found new Suhr PT-100 heads for $2,995, but I'd still need a speaker. My choice then would be a Bogner Überschall 6L6 100 Watt head & a 2x12 cab with 1 Celestion & 1 Eminence Red Coat. I could do that new for just under $3k.
$3K to spend today. Vintage 5E3. Done.
Two Rock Studio 35
A American Deluxe Ash Tele and a Mesa 5:50+ head. That's all folks!
I'd have them take me to their local alien music shop and pick me up a vintage alien instrument, then take it to Riley Martin to verify its authenticity.
I'll pay them 1000 for an alien time machine, go back to 1959 and spend the rest scooping up unwanted blacktops, Broadcasters, Nocasters, and SRV's number 1, which I would go forward in time and give him myself.
An original '61 Bassman w/cab.
The aliens would give me a high five!
I purchased a Friedman combo amp for nearly this price last weekend. Plan to pick it up soon. Hoping that it will cover hot rodded Marshall JTM tones in a compact package and still sound decent with some overdrive at low voumes.
The one that I tested in a store with an vintage Les Paul a few months ago sounded really good.
hey Eric, are you still building amps?
