I was just wonderin'..... Am I the oldest picker on this Forum? I'll be turning 73 on January 21st comin' up.... Surely there's got to be another old phart out there to shoot me out of the saddle, ain't there?..... Here's a couple of shots, one in front of the Swizzle Stik in Huntington Beach, Ca. around 1976 and one on steel guitar at Bonnie Price's Foothill Club in Signal Hill, Ca. around 1978. The other is this past June at an outside festival in Chesapeake, Va. A lot of water's gone under the bridge since then but I still love pickin' the old guitar..............JH in Va.

What's the unusual 335-ish guitar in the pics ? At first I thought by the shape of the non F hole a Gibson Trini but it has lots of goodies on it that don't fit the "norm".

I think that's a great thing about this forum, that we have people of all age groups.

Is Papa Joe still active on the forum?...

And........that is a Trini. I bought it brand new at the Guitar Center in Hollywood around 1968. I heavily modified it over the years with pickups, wiring and the three (3) lever Bigsby Palm Pedal. The third lever was on the D string to raise it to E... I installed a Fender humbucker in the middle as you can see in the picture. Later on I took it out and cut a plate out of pickguard material and installed a Strat pickup in the middle slot. I sold the guitar about 8 years ago or so and I'm really sorry I did, I had a lot of good miles on that guitar.......

So I guess there's only one guy older'n me and that's papa joe, eh?.... Here's one more shot in action with the "Shriner Hillbillie Band" taken at a parade in Virginia Beach..........JH in Va.

+1 The Trini is the first thing that I noticed and secondly, that awesome beard! I'm 33 and still can't grow anything other than white trashy looking scruff.
