Got my delivery date but we all know the MO. A fool's gamble for sure. I'll do due diligence re my refund but it would serve me right if it doesn't happen.

I once bought an item on Ebay that started failing by the next day and went to leave a comment...but the vendor was packed up and gone ! (.5 Terabyte thumbnail)
Ebay most likely allowed for them to recreate an alias to keep on selling, since you really can't complain to them unless it's a FAQ bot.
FAQ bots to shut you up and keep buyin !

Good thing I called Paypal, they went ahead and followed up, and I got my refund already.
I called them a while back when someone reported the negative feedback saying it was a scam.
Paypal froze the funds when I called them.

Delivery in less than 2 weeks from China? It would cost at least one hundred bucks for a guitar, at least.

It might be reasonable to think they were blowing them out because they weren't selling, at around the price it costs to make them or a little less, but with that kind of shipping it wouldn't make sense.

    Hindsight being what it is..

There were suspicions aired early in the thread, but there was no way to know this was definitely a scam when it started.

Wouldn't be the first time cheap stuff was unloaded, and given eBay's guarantee policy, there was no risk to purchase.

I would imagine eBay will be updating their rules, because they're going to be left holding the bag here. And they aren't known for losing money. I'd guess they are actually holding our cash, and that the seller hasn't gotten it yet.

When you are a new seller in the US, eBay holds your sales for several weeks, until after the sale has cleared. I'd expect they're even more cautious about this in countries where they have no legal recourse.

I'm pretty sure these are made in Nigeria.

No one saw that coming. Next time just take a $20 out of your wallet and light it on fire.

I've just bought a (full price) guitar off eBay. First time I've done that. Now expecting ANYTHING to arrive (or not) on Monday, thanks to this thread... :D

At least when I put money in this slot machine and lost, I'll get it back thanks to EBay and PayPal's buyer protection.

Sure, after you take the time to file the claims and all that.
Here's the part I don't get. I mean, you had to know from the beginning there was no guitar right? You really thought a guitar could be built in China and shipped to your front door for $17.99?

Yes. Because of a certain reason we aren't supposed to discuss here. The seller in question had delivered on $35 basses previously so, with new subsidies being what they are, it made it possible.

I've also successfully ordered stuff previously, prior to current events, when a factory over there was trying to clear out excess inventory. I've gotten some good deals that way.

Since i'd already mentioned purchasing the same guitar for $50-ish & receiving it only to return it for the wrong flavor neck, yes, $17.99 isn't out of the realm when one considers that's prob the price point in the manufacturing of. I'll admit fingers were crossed, but c'mon, $17.99 & buyer protection? There's almost no risk.

I didn't even consider this risky, & i've taken some big risks... & win on some occasions. I consider myself way ahead. This was nothing.

Yeah maybe don't comment if you don't bother with actually understanding what you are talking about.
    Ebay guarantee, smart guy.

You're not getting a guitar. Sounds like you get your money back and eBay gets screwed and maybe a scammer walks with some cash. Good for you. Sounds like a big waste of time to me. But hey, it's your time to waste.
