    hi

I just bought a tele 1975, and toook a small look at the pots. And after a search at the internet, i just dont get wiser, if the pots belong to a original fender tele from 1975.

Please if anyone could help me.

    The code is : 019064. 250K - AUD 0813

    Thx. Rene

Congrats on the 75 Tele. I also have a 75 that I've owned since new. I'll tell you right now that 75 Teles came with 1M ohm pots so that is not an original pot. However, I also changed the pots on mine to 250K ohm. The 1Meg pots made the pickups sound very bright. The 250K are what make a Tele sound like a Tele.

My guess on the date code - 8th week of 2013 but pics would help.

In a 1975 Tele 250k is not the correct value. Should be 1 meg.

But it is a common mode to cure icepickiness, as INFANT says.

Post some pictures of the headstock and neck body joint, bridge and inside the control cavity

Hit the upload a file button when composing a reply and if you have the file stored in your computer, it will link to it.

.....just forgot - the weight is 4,5 kilo so its a heavy tele. And one more thing, the bridge pickup is NON staggered.

Most of it seems legit. The pickup selector should have a top hat knob and not the strat knob currently on there.looks like the pots and maybe (I said maybe) one of the pickups may have been changed. I say this because neither of my pickups has cloth covered wires. All of my wires have plastic insulation. However, I've heard of some mid-70s Teles with cloth covered wire so, I could be wrong.
The way I see it, you've got a 75 that's had its pots and maybe a pickup replaced and maybe the original owner lost the top-hat button on the selector switch.

Mine weights in at 4.2 kilos

Ok - neck and headstock face are right. Two string trees, gasket under F neckplate.

Body is the correct post-73 Gumby shape with no notch.

Looks like it may have a 52 reissue bridge judging by cloth covered wires.

I would have said refinnished but the paint in the control cavity - could be either way. If we could see under the pickguard and in the neck join it'd be possible to say.

Switch, pots and tone cap are not original.

In this condition it's a player rather than a collectible. But I'd own it, in fact it's the sort of guitar I'd go for. Keef's 70's Teles weigh a lot - that mass gives great punch.

Nice! Looks legit to me too tho those pots are new... from 2013. The bridge pickup... is probably not original based on the cloth wires. A photo of the base plate/bottom of the bobbin would be the telltale sign.... that entails take the bridge off though...

Ya it looks like the previous owner may have changed out the pickups with vintage fender pups and pots looking for a vintage Tele sound. No big deal unless the guy sold it as all original.

Like Dacious says, it's a player, not a collectable. Mine is the same as I wanted a guitar that I could play. I've tried '52 vintage pickups in mine as well as Lace Sensors and finally gone back to my original pickups. I put the 250K ohm pots in there maybe 25 years ago...best move I ever made.

If those are Fender Vintage 52 pickups with 250K ohm pots, you've got yourself a nice guitar....congrats

I had the exact same Telecaster, same colour, decal, neck and played it till 1982 in a girl band.
Not sure about the pot value.
