Congrats on the drill press. Are you designing your own router lift?
Nice! Yep old cabinets is a great source for great plywood - that stuff is hard to find and expensive if you have to buy it.
I'm going to try something like this,
I already had the threaded rod and some solid rods sitting around.
I'm going to see if I can get away with 1/2" rod instead of the 3/4" that's called for.
It sure is.
The cool thing is the guy at the dump remembered throwing a nice piece of birch ply into the dumpster and even climbed in there and got it out for me..
I hear you... I salvaged some birch ply from shipping crates off the loading dock just this morning!
I just bought a 3/4"x3' zinc plated steel rod at Tractor Supply for 12 bucks the other day. Got a secret project planned
Edit: That is a nice looking lift
Well now what's Nosmo doing, with a rod!
And I agree, that would be really handy to just do it from the top. I also saw this guy.. it tilts, which may be kinda handy... not sure what for.. but...
I've sort of had my eye on Matthias tilting router lift for some time.
I really want something that is going to stay square with the top.
One of the reasons I sold my old Skil router and table was that the height mechanism and clamp would often leave the bit a degree or so off from vertical.
Once I get the new stuff in place I think I'll do a shop tour thread.
Everything is crammed into an 8x16 mini-barn.
It's bigger than Gil's old shop so I can't complain.
Is Jar Jar still alive? Probably hanging with that guy Ronald...............
I keep thinking we're starting up again and then--back into the carbonite....
If this keeps up I may have to "help" Jar Jar along a bit.......
My unheated workshop has been frozen(in carbonite) until this past week when things finally started to warm up around here.
I've also been busy trying to find a new job.
I've got a second interview with a place this afternoon though so I'm pretty hopeful that things are going to work out.
In the interim I have been planning a few things out, such as what's going to happen to Jar Jar.
Think, opening shot in Ryuhei Kitamura's movie Versus.
Yeah, that'll be, uh,
[one YouTube search later]
Holy Moses, Josh!
Best of luck on the job Josh. Jar Jar has always irked me but I don't know if samurai zombies might even be too much for him. I was thinking maybe he could just get his head stuck between my neo bars but I was afraid of what that might do to the bars so I leave it in your capable hands.
Good luck Josh!
LOL, Jupiter ! Me, too.
On the other hand, there's the 2011 Toronto After Dark Film "Versus", featuring, among other interesting characters, Uncle Sam with a flamethrower, who might be a fitting adversary for Jar-Jar.
The Star Wars universe already contains sufficient characters with "swords".
The Jedi are really just Samurai carrying around a lightsabre instead of a Katana and Wakizashi.
