What do you think about that? He has notoriously always favored the Tele! I know he played a Chopin. Ibanez makes amazing guitars. But a Tele style? I hate to say this and I know it's already been said. The name on the headstock don't mean a thing! Don't hate. Keep on pickin!!!!!

It looks pretty cool to me. Mainly very traditional with a few tweaks. Am interested i hearing a demo of the new Seymour Duncan FLATV pickups.

Josh does a quick demo here:

I don't understand the price point, but I won't knock it until I've tried it.

They've got a few cool other new guitars too, a couple of new S series HSS models with 24 fret necks, but, what I find disappointing is that they're hardtails with no vibrato. They also have the Lari Basilio signature model with an HSS pickup layout, and some other AZ Tele shaped models with a Strat style bridge/vibrato and a mini HB at the neck, and one with the same bridge as Josh's guitar.

Meh .. Guitars tend to be overpriced at release .. Give it 12 months and let's see.

Looks like it will sit with the AZ-line .. I'm guessing 2500 here at release and then it will end up being around 2k in 12 months or so

Uhh .. Thanks for the heads up .. I like the look of that AZS2209H ... Actually looks sweeter than the Josh Smith one. Also has got stainless steel frets

So does the Lari Basilio model, and I like the location of the jack on them, so it isn't in the way when sitting down with a straight plug cable.

Are they 12" radius boards? I just can't get on with those.

The scratchplate kind of reminds me of an Epiphone Coronet or something, looks cool in a late 60s type way. I like the guitar but absolutely HATE that curved control plate, and it's not like it can be changed out either.

For me, it seems the PU switch is too close to strings when in neck position.

Josh seems genuinely excited, and proud of the guitar.

    Nice!!

I absolutely adore Josh Smith and his musical genius. Just when you think you've heard every iteration of blues licks, this cat pulls out some fresh and thoroughly creative phrases that I've never heard before. Still 100% blues and his playing has this beautiful swing and groove to it.

He plays with .13s but I'd be shocked if Ibanez ships them out with that size, LOL.

Good for Josh. Thanks to the OP for posting this and the subsequent video.

I'm pretty certain that the guitar Josh plays and the one you can buy is just like a Nascar driver's Toyota Camry and one available to you off the lot.

    They aren't the same beast.

I've been a fan of Josh's since the first record and have seen him live several times. I admire him as an exceptional artist, one of the best guitarists out there right now. And I have to say, I'm disappointed. I had rather guessed a Suhr when Josh announced his signature guitar. This Ibanez Telecaster copy looks cheap to me. The banana shaped control plate is not really nice either.
