    That's kinda weird...

As I remember reading in some guitar magazine decades ago that Johnny used to wear through a guitar about once every 2-3 years.
He would just replace it like it was a worn-out screwdriver and keep on moving.
Like he never gave a damn about them as personal items much.
It left me with the impression that he didn't have a 'No. 1'.
In my mind for all these years that's the impression I was left with, that he just plowed through them and there was no 'one' in particular.

And his personality would back that up, he never seemed like a sentimental guy to me.
I could be wrong of course, but that's what I remember from the article.

mosrites were cheap back then...late 80s with his fame and ricky from the b52s...the prices started going up...after cobain the prices went through the roof...i hope johnny had a bunch from the early days

I'm not one to say things like this...but come on. This kinda seems like a more than fair price to me. I mean...if you're stinking rich, a million bucks isn't that much for Johnny's main axe – the guitar that is, and always will be, the most famous and iconic guitar in punk rock history. It's not only perhaps the coolest celebrity-owned guitar of all time, but it ain't like it's gonna be a bad investment either.

If I was rich, you can bet your ass I'd be willing to spend at least that for it.

It's certainly a helluva lot cooler than any of these, IMO (and they are no slouches):

The memorabilia market is a bit odd. It was the first one though, owned and played by Johnny.

Teal-bodied Japanese Mosrite Mark II Johnny Ramone signature electric guitar (Serial No. JRB000), personally owned and used by Johnny Ramone. Includes the original hardshell Ramones guitar case, two Ramones/Fillmore guitar picks, and a guitar strap. In fine condition. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by Ramone, which affirms that the "guitar is one of Mark-2 Johnny Ramone signature models specially supervised and authorized by Mr. Johnny Ramone himself," and by a signed letter of authenticity from his widow, Linda, which reads: "This certifies that the Blue Mosrite Mark-2, serial number JRB000, was the first Johnny Ramone Model produced by the Fillmore Company. The guitar was sent to Johnny Ramone and it was owned and used by Johnny Ramone."

    750K plus 25% buyers premium (187.5K) = $937,500
