'Johnny Cash' at the Waffle House. Interesting gig. (To me).

Waffle House clientele may not have the patience for looping.

I barely made it through it myself, but the last half of it was pretty good.

The finished product was great. He would be a big hit in an assisted living facility. The right age for OG Cash fans. And all the time in the world to listen to a guy set up 10 minutes of loop for a 2 minute song and a 1 minute solo.

I've watched this guy a bunch, he actually has some pretty decent chops

https://www.youtube.com/@DovydasMusic

He's usually set up as more of a busker, but he likes to bring random folks off the street to sit in with him. I particularly like when he asks a random stranger if they can sing or play guitar, he gets some interesting results!

Cheers,
Doug

Thanks for posting, Mr. Backlund. I think I get your point. How exactly would you defile a Waffle House anyway? If I were there eating my pecan waffle and my smothered, smattered and splattered hashbrowns, I'd be happy to eat while I watch a monkey F**k a football. In a Waffle House, this guy reads like the Vienna Philharmonic.

After waiting through it, his playing was great.
Also great, the St Vincent guitar looks so much better with the lower bout half pick guard versus the original high waisted full pick guard.

Just nope. If it takes you two minutes to set up your loops before you get to the song, you are doing it wrong.

It takes me forever to 'set up a loop', in fact, more than forever, so my little looper lives at the bottom of a drawer....somewhere in the house.

It's even worse for my E-Bow, I may have given it away but can't remember.

Why not play to a backing track ? it would make things a bit smoother. And looping keeps dragging on !

If you check out some of this guy's street videos, you'll see that he does a lot of spontaneous requests, so backing tracks don't work for him since he doesn't necessarily know what songs he'll be asked to play.

I will say that I am impressed by his knowledge of and ability to play a very wide variety of styles and genres

Cheers,
Doug

maybe he could at least get the drum machine ready so he would just have to adjust the tempo ? He is good !

DOVYDOS!!!!

the dude is insanely talented and I have seen his videos on numerous occasions. Last time I was in Vegas I tried to run him down and found out he was on a corporate gig somewhere and I missed him. He will sometimes busk outside of Ceasars from what I hear.
