I'm re-visiting John Martyn's work at the moment, something I do periodically.

John was a troubled soul himself, but this emotional song was written for his friend Nick Drake.

Just John's guitar, voice and Danny's upright bass. wonderful.

The whole SA album is a fantastic listen. That era of Island Records was just amazing.

Huge fan of his work, found Bless the Weather LP in a garage sale long time ago and got immediately hooked. Since then bought a whole series of CD reissues with his albums and never get disappointed even if sometimes it can be perturbing specially the last albums where the fingerpicking stuff has cease the place to synths

For sure. Saw them once at the Brixton Academy... might have been on the same tour. Two great musicians.

I always thought that Dave Mathews was somewhat of a John Martyn clone.

Doesnt matter... I really like(d) John... and Dave's, well, ok.

    That SA album is wonderful.

    Nick Drake was superb, too.

    Folk Jazz.

Oh man,,,,Pentangle (and particularly Basket of Light) is an outstanding favorite of mine.
