I caught JMM on last night here in Tallahassee, FL. Jude Moses opened and also played with him.

It was a great show, and the band really brought it. The guitar player played a lot of slide, the rhythm section was tight.

If you get a chance to support him, it's well worth it.

Holy cow, that guy is amazing. Hes like a psalmist in the way he writes lyrics.
I absolutely love his guitar player as well. that is if its the same guy who is in the live in-house 'death in his grave' video on the web. His guitarist in that video was honestly my inspiration to go buy a tele, slide, and volume pedal and start using those types of sounds in church. really great artist with a really great band.

Yep, that's him. His first name is James, but I don't recall his last name. He really played a lot of slide on lots of the songs.
It made me pull my slide out and try to work with it more. We did how he loves today and we did the jmm version and I just kept my slide out for a few other songs. I think it came out pretty good.

Just for the record, McMillan actually wrote "How He Loves". We have seen him more times than I'd like to admit and have actually had several interactions with him and the band. All of which are the real deal. His wife, Sarah McMillan, has a CD she put out a few years ago as well that he produced and co-wrote a few songs if memory serves. She's super sweet, too.

I didn't know that when we started doing the song, but once I heard the JMM version I was sold.
Especially the "sloppy wet kiss" line. I convinced our music leader to use that line when I equated it to a kiss from my son. We've pretty much done that lyric since then.

That lyric, yeah, it's a crowd spliter for sure. The church we just left the pastor and I got in a "discussion" about that lyric (the two are not related, however). Short story, they changed it, I disagreed. JMM actually had wrote on his blog a couple years back about people changing the lyric. He was okay with it, but it still bothers me. Glad to hear someone outside of Charlotte is playing the song correctly.

I really like JMM's song "Death In His Grave" I played it at Easter this year ... something a little different for me.
