Awesome, but I agree that it's a tad less exciting than CCR going back on tour.

Cool story...was it mere coincidence the very first thing he played on his Ricky, being my favourite tune of his?

Green River? I have a hard time finding a song of his to call my favorite. CCR is one of those bands, that I can put on any one of their records and sing the lyrics, and hum the guitar parts (notice I said "hum" not "play" ;)) all the way through.

An enormous body of work for which not enough credit is given.

Is it me or does the idea of asking 40k for a guitar that used to belong to the person inquiring kinda insulting? Dare I say sleazy? Turning that down wouldn't be an issue with me if I had the dough. Good on John.

Good to see he got it back & is motivating him.

    Great story.
A Rik. I guess I never realized he played a Rik.

Great story. Fogerty is a true musical legend and i'm happy to see him reunited with that piece of music history he created. I can't see him getting back with doug and stu tho because that bad blood between them seems never to fade, and those guys have been touring as creedence clearwater revisited for well over 20 years now and Fogerty has never been real happy about that. At first they used the original name but had to change it to revisited after a legal letter.

Depends on what he paid. I never got a very good vibe about norm but if it were me i'd have sold it to him for what i paid. Maybe even just given it to him depending on what my financial situation was. But who knows....maybe he paid $40k for it and was just wanted to break even. Probably not, but u never know, and you couldn't blame him if that were the case. But in al likelihood he didn't pay that and i di think if thats the case it's sorta sleasy. I think fogerty is too great a legend not to do the right thing if he could afford to w/o losing his azz.

Are sure he didn't just have a long standing disagreement and refused to play it?:)

In fairness to Mr. Norm (with reservations) LOTS of guitars that pass through there have a history, no way he could let them all go at cost. Still, in those shoes you'd think to barter.

Norm seems like a real peach, probably gave all of $800 to the sucker that sold it to him.

Frampton got his LP back, Fogerty's got his 325 back, now if Page and Keefe could get their 3-pickup axes back...

It'll never happen. Zaentz and his brother Tom are dead, but the bad feelings persist. Fogerty holds a grudge like nobody's business.

    I would have asked 500k.
No just kidding. I would have marked down the whole store 90% for everyone and had to go out of business.
Just so people wouldn't think I was a 'bad person'
