Once again proving that he is among the greatest athletes of all time, Joey "Jaws" Chestnut consumed 71 hot dogs in ten minutes today, winning his 12th championship by a margin of 21 dogs.

The entire sports world was rooting for him to surpass his own world record of 74, but he came up short. Heat may have been a factor.

What about part 2 of the contest?
    No, never mind, TMI.

I wonder what % of your daily sodium is in 70 hot dogs?

I’m a live and let live guy, but that ‘competitive eating’ is pretty disgraceful to me.

They throw it up. Your body doesn't want to process that much salt and calories at one time.

I thought they had to keep it down for a while? Ignorance is bliss I suppose!
But what you say makes more sense.

As an Englishman once told me (he was fascinated with American eating habits)...it's "all you can eat" not "eat all you can!"

I have never understood why he hasn't gone for the chestnut eating championship. Maybe I am missing something.

These "eating contests" are so wrong on every level.
