One of my favorite second basemen of all time.
Been a bad couple of weeks for baseball! Bob Gibson, Whitey Ford and Joe Morgan.
I liked Joe Morgan but hated the “Big Red Machine”
Holy cow, you got that right! RIP Joe.
I enjoyed watching "Little Joe," especially the "chicken flap" that he developed early in his career in order to keep his back elbow up.
Rest in Peace Joe.
I was a Pirate fan but Morgan and Bench were the only Reds that I liked.
A great player..and pure class.
RIP Joe Morgan. Showed MLB and all its fans how a great fielding second baseman can also hit for power. What a great HOFer and class act. Fine broadcaster in his post playing years too.
I was a Phillies fan as a kid and half the games I went to at the Vet seemed be against the Reds. You couldn't help but dig Joe Morgan. I liked Bench and Charlie H too.
Yup, batting coach told him to move it so he would know it was up. Big fan of his growing up in the 70’s. RIP.
Actually one of the very best analysts ever.
Rest In Peace Joe Morgan.
I was a Big Red Machine fan, but I always had respect for the Pirates...
Clemente, Sanguillen, Stargell, Dave Cash (The last Rawlings glove I had was a Dave Cash)... Great teams, great rivalries.
My dad took my brother and I to the first night game in WS history at Three Rivers in 1971. The Pirates came back to beat the Orioles in that game. My dad was a huge Pirates and Steelers fan since he grew up in PIT.
The thing I remember most about him is the bat he used. It seemed to be nearly as big as he was
He was one of the few bright spots for my Giants in the early 80s, and also later played for those guys from Kansas City across the bay.
