    I saw Joe Ely play solo in a small venue (Double Door Inn, Charlotte). It's something to see a dynamic talent like him from about 15 feet away. Great performers have stage presence.

    You could call him the Texas Springsteen ... Or, call Bruce the Jersey Ely ... He is awesome live with his rock band or solo ...

    I have the “Live Shots” cd where it’s a live show opening for the Clash. It’s not my favorite thing ever but it is fun. I’ve actually never heard the studio version of this song til now, only ever heard that live version.

    Oh, I would much, much rather hear Joe do a show, that Springsteen.

    Having said that, I just acquired a copy of the 2003 "Streets of Sin" and I am struggling with it - doesn't resonate like some others I've listened to a lot.
