Nice one. I liked her in the Motown flick too.
A small thing, maybe, but I thought the lyrics (the point!) were:
"...You DON'T move your head, DON'T move your lips....
not- GOTTA move your etc., the way Joan is singing
The idea being you're not moving anything else, " Just shake your hips"
So it changes the point of the song?
( I know musically, it's all about a great groove!)
She’s sure got somethin’ happenin’... not sure what you call it...
I've been doin this song for over 30 years.
Pretty much like this arrangement...
Slim Harpo Lives!!!
I've always liked Joan. She has a certain "sweet and sleazy" attitude when she performs. This video demonstrates that perfectly.
Awhile ago I heard her on the radio doing a song called, I think, Right Hand Man.
When it was done I had to pull over and have a cigarette.
When she first started getting out, she used to attend a couple Blues Jams in NYC. Blues Traveler was still local...we used to cringe when Joan showed up. She was young, green and terrible. Then she sort of disappeared and reappeared as JOAN OSBORNE!!
Like she'd gone to the crossroads to meet Ol' Scratch.
What you are saying is she was not "One of Us".
Right hand Man is a great song, and a great example of odd time working for the song.
