I remember some critic called her "the female Chuck Berry".
I though that was just silly.
    She not "the female" anyone.

    She's Joan Jett

I discovered Joan Jett when I was in college and I've always liked her and her music a lot.

As it happens, I just watched The Runaways last weekend for the first time, and read up on Joan's involvement in the production. Seems she was very gracious and complimentary to Kristen Stewart over her performance, and to me that makes her even cooler.

Here's a video that discusses that very point in a review of the guitar.

Absolutely one of my favorite artists!
Those Musicman amps crunch really well when someone knows how to dial them in ;)
(that's a reference to all her hits / studio recordings, not necessarily the video the OP posted)

... She was still in the Runaways when this was news.

Love Joan's version of Wild Child...right up there with Iggy Pops' and the Killer's renditions.

years ago for work reasons, I went to a Joan Jett/Def Leppard show. My expectations of the opening act were kind of low - I was musing that there weren't enough hits to full a ton of space. Jett took the stage like she owned it, and as if every screaming fan in the place was only there to see her. She literally owned the night, and Def Leppard with their immense stage show, catalog depth, and award-winning sound just seemed weak and dull after first having seen Jett. She made a believer out of a skeptical old road dog...

Joan Jet has always been a good looking woman wether her hair is long or short, blonde or black. She's the kind of player you can always root for no matter what team she plays for. Like Hank Aaron or Wayne Grezski.
