Rings cause a lot of "degloving" injuries too. I almost lost a finger from a ring when it got caught on a piece of heavy Eq I was climbing down off of. Also gold rings turn red hot in a jiffy if they contact battery voltage and ground.

Used to work in a bank note factory where it was prohibited to wear rings at work. Catch your finger in a machine and the chances of getting it severed increase when there's a ring involved.

We had a coach in high school who was missing his left ring finger. As a younger man, he jumped down from a tractor, and his ring caught on something, removing his finger.

Part of why I haven't been wearing my wedding ring lately. When she got it, my wife got my ring a size too small (and being titanium, it can't be resized), and so there are times when it gets too tight to really take off. Easy to snag and cause pain.

I worked in manufacturing for years.... rings always came off. His sounds like a real fluke thing, glad he's okay!

I wear my Wedding ring on a chain around my neck. Rings and gloves are a No-No when you are working around machines.

That must have been some ring to get snagged on a table.

A niece almost lost her finger in a similar way. Riding her bike, coming to a stop and grabbed a fence, but a nail or something caught the ring and about ripped the finger off. Many years later she still only has limited use of that finger

Yep, saw a mechanic at the AAMCO I worked at contact his ring to the body while disconnecting a battery. Damn thing melted into his finger in about 2 seconds!

That's damn scary! The first thing we were taught in auto mechanics class in high school were "NO JEWELRY!" because of already said reasons. I wasn't much of a wearer of rings so, I'm glad that I never had any issues.

In the Air Force we had pictures of ring fingers that had been taken off someone's hand by his ring. The finger and 18" of tendon that had been pulled out of his arm were in the picture. That was enough for me. I do not wear watches or rings at any time now.

I put my wedding ring on to say my vows...then took it off. No watch, no chains, no rings. And look! I gots all me digits!

Another note to those with really long hair. The sprocket on a go-cart is only about a foot behind your head...
